Marciano and Frazier definitely don't hit as hard as AJ even in p4p terms.

How can extremely high work rate 15 round attrition swarmers punch harder than a medium work rate, 10 round boxer puncher? It's like saying Duran hits as hard as Hearns p4p.

Frazier also has a worse KO rate than AJ in addition to this. Frazier connected on 60% of his power punches in his first fight with Ali and still couldn't knock him out. If AJ landed 60% of his straight rights, rear uppercuts and hook flurries on Ali he'd be charged with murder.

Shavers was landing numerous flush shots on the head of Ali. Foreman and Lyle was landing devastating body punches. Joshuas power is high end but overrated and his results typically come from combinations. He couldn't floor Franklin. He couldn't drop Dubois when Wardley did it twice. Never dropped or stopped Parker when even chisora did and couldn't wobble Usyk like Fury did.

One of the most fascinating things about Vitali is that he was not a very good lights-out puncher at all, but managed to lay grueling volume beatings on people with largely arm punches despite being a huge guy. So, further strangely, he was not an awesome lights-out puncher when he punched more like one, technique-wise, but even after converting to arm punching as a safer means to an end later, he was still clearly strong enough to keep hurting people and dissuading them from opening up at times with just those arm punches, many of which were like pattycake check hooks that opponents sometimes just seemed tired of walking into, despite not getting buzzed necessarily. He was a very weird athlete to deal with and rate. One of the weirdest, honestly.

Vitali Klitshcko put a lot of punches on people and was basically robot Ali with a lot of volume. Vitali never fought good enough fighters for me to understand the depth of his skillset among great fighters. His career was highlighted by the Byrd shoulder thing and TKO6 with Lennox and I don't think he has one signature knockout where his opponent went to sleep in a big time fight. Vitali's game was just making the opponent hopeless. As a viewer, his fights felt punishing and grueling and I don't recall anyone seeming like they could lay a glove on him that second time around. It was a pretty shambollic German cash grab.

 

Vitali was a cherry picker imo, there are loads of ranked fighters he avoided.

Solid power but most of all he lost very very few rounds in his career. Even his losses he won most of the rounds.

Lennox Lewis avoided fighting Chris Byrd and Kirk Johnson - a revitalized Vitali beat Johnson in his next fight after the Lewis fight when Lennox declined Vitali a rematch.

Can you refresh my memory on who Vitali avoided.

It was typically under the Don King rule and after Ali (who fought everyone) Holmes among others used the corrupt agencies to avoid the toughest contenders. The alphabet agencies. Holmes/King paid off John Ort of ring magazine to make a Holmes opponent rated.

I do recall 2 champions named Klitschko who dominated the division but do not recall them avoiding other champions - In fact Vitali wanted NikolaiValuev before Valuev lost to Ruslan Chagaev who was stopped by Wladimir

 

Lewis didn't avoid Byrd, he had earned the right ar that point in his career. To make a huge money fight against Tyson. Vits on the other hand certainly avoided a rematch with Byrd.

Vits didn't really want Valuev. If he did he wouldn't have insisted upon so many stipulations in the contract. If you want to know who Vits didn't fight we can start with Chagaev, Ibragimov and Povetkin. All in all i believe he didn't fight 28 Ring top 10 fighters. He certainly avoided the best fighters as champion to fight second tier fighters instead.

 

Isn't that like saying "imagine if Lewis from the Golota fight unloaded on Vits"?

 

Lewis did duck Byrd, as he dropped the IBF belt to pursue A REMATCH with Tyson, whom he just destroyed. No champions can earn a right to mess around like that.
