Fighters who would have benefited from being more agressive

I'm surprised I haven't seen his name mentioned. There was a Welterweight that fought in the 1990s named Lopez.
He was more interested in surfing than punching but when he did let them go his opponent had a tendency to go down.
Fought Quartey to a draw in a very odd fight. Lopez took some luster off Ike's name.

Wardley totally screwed up the Dubois fight by not jumping in him after the knockdowns.

 

Zhang snatched defeat from victory several times by refusing to let his hands go, although terrible conditioning had something to do with it.

 

Really? I thought he deserved the nod against Muhammed Ali.

 

I would have liked to have seen Lennox Lewis show more aggression, like he did against Mike Tyson. Lewis seemed kind of lazy, even unmotivated. With his physical attributes, he should have been more dominant.

 

By ducking through to ropes to get a deserved referee ruled knockdown to stupidly forfeit a 10-8 round? Landover wasn't exactly Young-Foreman. One should win a championship by going for it. Young, Norton, Shavers did not. Frazier, Leon Spinks and Larry Holmes did. That's the difference between a Champion and a contender. (Leon Spinks EARNED what was then by far the biggest prize in sports. Norton was awarded a completely undeserved WBC belt in a definitive smoke filled room.

 

Joe Bugner.

 

Just about to post Bugner. Big Joe might have been a world beater with a little more, well, a lot more, spite...

 

Bugner is a top mention. I recently rewatched a good dose of Ali - Bugner and Joe had a lot going for him. When he actually let his hands fly he had excellent speed and could really put them together. He had enough power to make Frazier wobble and his chin was superb as well.

He was missing something, the mongrel, the determination, the doggedness. He should get mentioned in the coulda been threads more.

 

Duran and Frazier. It's why they're doing so poorly in the Classic H2H threads lately. They just could not pull the trigger enough.

I think he tried but Dubois was still landing big shots back. They were also kinda flash knockdowns Dubois wasn't very badly hurt.
