Fighters that you would favor to beat all of the Fab Fours (SRL, Duran, Hearns, Hagler)

This is why we can’t really look at modern day MW’s/SMW’s.

 

I think Lennox Lewis beats all of them on the same night.

 

To beat the Fab Five, (I always include the overlooked Wilfredo Benitez ,I know he didn't
fight Hagler, but that means Hagler didn't fight him either, the caveat is, Benitez did
challenge him.)
Other than Ray Robinson, who had all the tools to beat that group, like exceptional
speed, power, skills, chin, mental toughness, and experience I don't believe anyone
else could.
Jones Jr. would be extremely tough for the entire group. However, unlike most of
his challengers during his prime years, I believe at least a couple of the Fab Five
would have the chin, mental toughness skillset ,speed and power to hit him cleanly eventually.
And when they did, he didn't have the chin to survive it.
Michael Nunn, and James Toney, had the size, skillset, and speed to be a hellish night for any
of the group if they are mentally motivated and properly trained.

 

Benitez was GOING to challenge him. Only problem was, he lost to #1 ranked Mustafa Hamsho. That fight was easy for Hamsho so its probably better that Wilfred did not go on to challenge for the title. He would later g on to lost a few more including Mathew Hilton.

If you ask me, he shouldnt have taken that fight. Matt was a little too rough on him

 

I'd give Crawford a good chance against any of them either at WW or MW

 

Absolutely, this is assuming they move up somewhere during their prime or do a catchweight, although I wouldn't be opposed to Ward getting a bit of what he did to Chad Dawson and being drained down. Even then I still think he could be competitive if he can make it. He didn't necessarily look like a big LHW.

 

I cant think of anyone except maybe for Greb, who could get past all 4 of them of them.

I'd say Roy's best bet would be vs slow footed Duran and with his speed, would absolutely DESTROY Sugar Ray Leonard.

Seriously, what's Duran going to do to him?

The thread title asks who would beat the fab four, and then goes onto list Hagler as one of the fab four.

You're answer to the question of who would beat them was Hagler.

So the pun would have been something about Hagler beating himself.....I'm not sure if that means the same thing everywhere that it does in the UK.

Personally I believe because Benitez started so young, and his father putting him in against adult and experienced pro fighters while he was in his mid teen years, he simply burned out early.
His father pushed him brutally when he was so young.
His unique skillset simply fell off a cliff, and he deteriorated shockingly quickly after the age of 25.
The Benitez that loss to decent but certainly not great fighters like Hamsho, Moore, and Hilton was not close to the guy who flustered the hell out Leonard and Hearns in their primes , and gave boxing lessons to Duràn, Hope, and Cervantes....
I believe Benitez at his best, would've been a stylistic nightmare for Marvin Hagler.

 

He'd be a bit green for mine, physically as well. He had his struggles around the Burley time and it would be a tall order to run the Fab 4 table.
