I know one person and they only signed up because other alternatives were down I'd imagine by this stage the numbers might be decent but not anywhere near what they'd like 1 million according to Phil tho...
I pay for it mate, proud schmuck and Ultimate subscriber. Think I've just reached that age and stage where I can't be arsed anymore and bite the bullet. Same reason I'll pay to stream a film rather than dig the DVD player out and start rummaging through boxes. Actually works out cheaper in the long run if you factor in opportunity cost.
DAZN have around 20 million paying subscribers globally but don’t realise numbers for each country, I seriously doubt that they have anywhere near 1 million in the UK alone, Boxnation at its peak had around 200,000 subscribers which is probably a good estimate for DAZN UK numbers.
I pay as well mate (not ultimate) but I think I’m the one only in my friendship group who does. Others who follow boxing seem to watch it on a fire stick. I don’t mind paying tbh.
So I could potentially see a world where they have a million subscribers in the UK IF you take in to account all those additional revenue-sharing subs like NFL Gamepass, NHL TV, Rally TV etc. But those don’t include any boxing, and given the main DAZN sub is essentially boxing and Serie A, I’d be astonished if they’re anywhere close to a million with those.
On here though you'll find a big number of us do sub but in the general public I don't have many people tell me they'll be watching on Saturday night because they have DAZN Many people still haven't a clue what it is which is odd and not their fault as they have done a ton of marketing and advertising
I think we're the hardcore in here mate. Even boxing social media is mostly casuals or attention seekers these days. Crazy to think McGuigan twice pulled in 18 million viewers on the BBC, and plenty of others were genuine household names on terrestrial TV. Once it moved to Sky it went niche, and now - outside the crossovers and the instafamous - it's almost an underground sport. Football has killed subscription TV and drives the prices up anyway. How TNT justify £30.99 a month is beyond me, yet I still get rinsed by them three or four times a year for the Tennis Grand Slams. Maybe when DAZN eventually goes bust the rights end up back at Sky. Probably where the sport needs to be long term.
Off topic, but thank you for saying this, for ages I have felt like the only one with this opinion. Discovery and BT have pulled one of the biggest bait and switches in British TV history. Content that was for years on Eurosport - part of the basic package for most Virgin and Sky customers - has been moved behind this exorbitant subscription. Not because rights fees for the coverage went up overnight, or because Eurosport were outbid, but because BT and Discovery didn't think their Eurosport customers in the UK paid enough. Meanwhile in the rest of Europe Eurosport continues just as it was before. Now TNT have lost the European football rights, hope enough customers scarper to force a price rethink.
Can't see dazn having 1m UK subs, fury makhmudov only got 5m UK viewers and every man and his dog has netflix
