What is the best performance by a light heavyweight on film?

I have never seen that fight. Was it his first or second fight with Saad? His fight with Leon Spinks was also brutal to watch

 

They both were hard to watch for me as I had been a Saad Muhammad fan. The first one was a little more competitive. Dwight was just a menacing little guy. Saad couldn't keep him away. Too many wars caught up with him.

 

I really liked Eddie Mustafa Muhammad's destruction of Marvin Johnson back in 1980. He found the key to victory with body shots.

Dwight Muhammad Qawi over Matthew Saad Muhammad I

Michael Spinks (and a young, pre-title Spinks at that) over Marvin Johnson and Ramon Ranquillo — Ramon was a club fighter but was coming off an upset of Mike Rossman at the time and may have thus been alphabet-ranked

Roy Jones Jr vs Virgil Hill (this was above 175 but close enough to it for me)

Archie Moore is an absolute joy to watch on film but I don’t think I’ve seen a virtuoso performance by him at that weight on film.

 

Conn vs Louis 1. What LHW has ever done that to a prime ATG HW?

 

Archie Moore vs Joey Maxim 1.

Up there with the likes of Duran vs Palomino, Napoles vs Cokes and Mayweather vs Corrales as far as virtuosic sustained beatings vs Hall of Famers go.

36 year old ass man that's been Boxing for 17 years channeling the spirit of a then 8 year old Joe Frazier with the Boxing savvy of a 1 year old Duran to get what is rightfully his after years of chasing it.

 

Victor Galindez vs Richie Kates I is one of the most animalistic and ferocious fights I've ever seen. In terms of a performance, I have no doubt this is Galindez's most memorable.

Saad vs Richie Kates. Now, I'm not suggesting that Saad was electric in this fight and didn't put a foot wrong but I'm tempted to say this is the wildest undertaker moment I've ever seen. The KD at the the end of the fourth (?) made it look Saad had been took out by a sniper. The fact he came back in the next round and handed out hands is insane.

Roy Jones Jr vs Montell Griffin II - I've long thought that seems to be an extra gear that the very, very best fighters can tap into when they need it most or get angry. Leonard in the final rounds against Hearns; Robinson against LaMotta; Duran against Leonard, Floyd against Corrales. I believe this is where we saw Roy - pissed off, ready to go - and he just absolutely flattened a guy he'd previously had big issues with.

Michael Spinks vs Dwight Muhammad Qawi. Obviously it's an undeniable performance, outpointing and out jabbing a fellow legend in Qawi in Spinks' most glorious conquest at 175. However, to perform at such a high level after the loss of his wife, crying in the dressing room as it clearly weighed on him. Outstanding.

Bernard Hopkins vs Antonio Tarver: This is the crown jewel in B-Hop's crown imo. Moving up two weight classes at 41 to take on a hard hitting, highly skilled southpaw who was massive at the weight and only two years removed from separating Jones from his jaw. Hopkins dismantled the southpaw in a way which should be studied by everyone.

 

One of my personal favourites. By the time Conteh gets warmed up in round 3 he's goes and puts on one amazing jab performance. Incredibly aesthetic style.
