Since Marciano holds a continuing fascination with fight fans, how does he do against these two contenders from the 80's?
    Marciano 5 ft 10 1/2in 185lbs 68 in reach
    Mercer 6ft 1 in 225lbs 77 in reach
    Morrison 6ft 2in 225lbs 77 in reach

Could the difference in size and the abbreviated 12 rds distance be a deciding factor?
    What do you say?
    Who wins these fights?

Morrison -Rocky wins by KO round 5-8

Mercer - Hard fight , violent war. Rocky by close decision.

Both explosive fights. For me, Morrison v Rocky is perhaps a carbon copy of Mercer v Morrison. Rocky will struggle with Tommy's athleticism and explosiveness...until he doesn't. Then its likely curtains for the Duke. A one side brawl until the end of the fourth when Rocky finds his rhythm and turns things to his side. Tommy gamely fights on for another few rounds before capituating, arm trapped in the ropes, sonetime after the 6th.

Mercer on his best night beats Rocky for me. Jab is too good, engine keeps him apace with Rocky and he is too big, too physical and top resilient. He busts Rocky up until RSF around the 10th...

Honestly Rocky would have a hard time with both, I could see him suzie q'ing Tommy after being behind in the fight. Rocky is smaller but Tommy doesn't have a great chin and Rocky has stopped guys Tommy's size that had better chins, so the possibility is there.

I legit think Mercer could stop Marciano...............Mercer isn't gonna lose to a 5'10 (actual LHW/CW hybrid), to much of a banger, too physical, too sharp on the inside, too good of a chin, he'll rough Rocky up real bad IMO.

This is not me saying Mercer is greater than Rocky, he most assuredly is not, Mercer is just a horrible style matchup.

Depends on how well Rocky takes their punishment. Honestly, if he stands up to the firepower, I pick him to beat both. Walcott was a pretty solid punchrr

Morrison sparks him out in 3 or 4. Too quick, hits harder than anyone Rocky ever faced. Rocky doesn't last long enough to exploit Tommy's shallow gas tank, nor is he fast enough to take advantage of Tommy's occasional defensive lapses.

Mercer annihilates Marciano. Too much man. Too skilled. Too tough. Rocky has nothing in his arsenal to effect Ray. Like shooting a .22 at a Grizzly. Stoppage in 7 or 8.

I have Morrison battering Rocky for around 4 rounds but I think, by myth and repute, Rocky can probably take this punishment while watching Tommy's gas tank empty and turning things around. That said, I'd likely take Tommy to win one if they fought three times. Kid loved a fight, had no fear and hit hard.

Rocky dealt with Joe Louis’s Jab. I don’t see mercer’s troubling him.
He gets up to a little over 400 punches if he comes in shape. Decent engine, but not even close to Rocky’s. He’ll get outworked.
he might have an iron chin, but his body is a different story. If Evander can drop him with a body shot, he won’t able to take too many from Rocky.

Louis' jab was a mere facsimile of what it had been and Rocky didn't,"deal with it," he was cut and marked up around both eyes, and said this." I couldn't avoid it I just had to take them."

I think actually Marciano has a better chance to beat the inconsistent Mercer than Morrison, who I feel would have way too much offense for Marciano to take. I wouldn't favor him over either, but think he could beat both on the right night. I'd pick Mercer and Morrison, though.

All good points but, to re-use the old joke, Louis was 136 years old when Rocky beat him. Mercer out jabbed Lewis for me, and yes, he could be lazy, but we are talking unicorn version of each fighter for this and I think the absolute best Marciano loses to the absolute best version of Mercer whose attributes, whilst remaining a lesser fighter than Rocky, are all kinda ways wrong for him.

Oh, is Mercer entering the ring as a shuffling geriatric now? And Rocky's face after the Louis fight spoke volumes on what even an old, tired, opponent with a ghost of the skillset he once had could do with just one punch in his arsenal.

If Joe Louis had anything left, it was his jab. It might not have been exactly as it used to be, but it was still a great jab. Rocky wasn’t able to consistently avoid it, but he still fought through it.

    That's not "dealing with it".

Yes, but his Jab was still good.
Yeah, so did frank bruno. And even Holyfield had success with the jab in his rematch with Lewis. Lennox doesn’t really seem to bother defending against the jab. I still think Louis’s jab is better than mercer’s.
I am talking about the best version of mercer. When I talked about his punch count, I was referencing his fight with Holyfield, which was arguably his best form. Even the best version of mercer doesn’t really match up to Rocky in Workrate.
