Its all good Mcvey. Differing opinions are what makes this forum go round.

Too much man? Sounds like you may have a fetish or fantasy where you want Ray to be "Merciless" on you but not in the boxing ring.

If you've been in the ring with bigger, stronger dudes who know how to be bigger and stronger you would understand. Marciano was a twerp, a savage and brutal twerp, but all that fury can be blunted by physical advantages and someone who knows how to use them.

Seems like you have a fetish for stubby, swarthy Italianates. I'm sure grinder has a preference selection just for you.

No fetishes here you're the one talking about "too much man." So on Marciano Ali had doubts he could have beaten him, Joe Frazier ranked Rocky ahead of himself, Joe Louis said even in his prime Rocky would have given him a lot of problems, so yeah I think I'll go with their opinions over a Marciano hating dunce behind a screen.

Mercer may score a knockdown but both are getting stopped at some point. Their weight and reach means nothing as their styles don’t use it at all.

Marciano is basically a less hard-hitting, less-skilled, less durable Joe Hipp. But Italian.

When did the last slow, short, bad balanced t-rex armed twerp made any impact on the heavyweight division? Or do you sit around and wait for this species re-emergence every week? It will be a long wait.

So, man-sized athletes like Witherspoon, Morrison and Lennox couldn't dent Mercer but some slow-twitch midget is going to KO him?

Little Holyfield almost knocked him out with the same strategy Marciano would have used. Stop slobbering over steroid muscle.

So from the age of 22, he grew another 3 and a half inches !

What he weighed when he turned pro is irrelevant.
Ali weighed 192 when he went pro,20lbs below his best weight.
    Debut weights
    Patterson was164
    Charles 160
    Walcott165
    Moorer 172
    Usyk 200
    You are being absurd !

Although Rocky is ATG over both of them - Mercer would beat Rocky.

Morrison has a theoretical chance to clone the Foreman fight, but I think he would clone the Bent fight. One moment is enough for Rocky, and after that it's over.

How much does Holyfield and Mercer weigh in 1952? Holy prob weighs in the 180s Mercer prob 195 ped weight is not a skill. It’s just functional weight. All men in the steroid era gain functional mass.
Enough of the name calling and outrage. We can have a differing opinion without it. I enjoy your posts and the discussion. I too can improve in that area.

Just watching the Holyfield fight makes me disagree with Mercer. He couldn’t sustain that kind of long term pressure and Rocky had the chin to survive him.
