Fury's next move if AJ fight talks collapse?

Ultimately, Fury will go where he can get star treatment, Joshua will go where he is told is best for business.

On the one hand, I feel bad for British fans as this really should have been on home soil. But the time for them to vote against this nonsense really was back in 2019. And there were plenty of chances since.

Add to that, it's not like British officiating has covered itself in glory at the top level the past few years either - Removing the possibility of yet another fight coming down to the whims of a British referee is no bad thing.

Britain losing this fight would just be the end destination of the path the British promoters took. Money talks

Brit referees are terrible. Please, Brits, stop letting these guys ruin fights. Just have American refs fly over for your big fights. They’ll actually let your boys fight their fights, while still stopping it where actually needed.

 

Fury's next move should be the Real money fight, not fighting for peanuts against AJ.

I've not been convinced Fury/Joshua will happen this year from the start.
Fury I think likes to be sure he has everything how he wants it mentally and physically before he has the bigger fights (understandably to give yourself the best chance of winning).
I don't think anyone could blame him if he doesn't take the Joshua fight for a title shot, but I'm not convinced he would be fighting Kabayel.
I just wonder if he doesn't want the Joshua fight at this time.

Remember when he fought Chisora the 3rd time?
Usyk was there to promote the fight. Usyk we were led to believe it was Usyk next. Then after the Chisora fight started saying that if that fight doesn't happen for some reason, he would fight J Joyce.
There was no reason that I know of as to why the Usyk fight didn't happen then, but Fury then fought Ngannou and then there was a couple of new dates for the Usyk fight, so that got delayed.

I really agree with you here. I'm a sports fan more so than a boxing fan, and I follow boxing for the intrigue of the sporting contest first and foremost, not really for the antics, personailities and drama. I came into it when I was younger mostly due to Mike Tyson and for some reason I've stuck with HWs being my main interest. But these days I'm enjoying rediscovering the sports side of boxing with the lower weight classes.

Boxing just isn't anywhere news mainstream in my country anymore. Most people I know don't care much about it at all, and I reckon a big part of it is just what you have brought up.

If his head isn't in it then that's worse than a physical decline. Physically he's in pristine shape, but that's never really been an issue for AJ.

there’s nothing physically stopping AJ from competing at a high level again. Just needs to get his head on straight.

 

I highly doubt it.

 

On paper Fury is likely more degraded physically but we don't know how far gone AJ is. Dubois gave him a terrible beating and that was in 2024. AJ is about to turn 37 and he's not had an easy career. He could be way past his best physically.

 

They've signed and apparently Zuffa is bank rolling it much to my distaste. I'd be more surprised if it didn't happen tbh
