How much of a chance do you give Xander Zayas to beat Boots Ennis?

Sadly, Boots has proven to be less special than I thought he was going to be. That doesn’t mean he isn’t really good, but he is flawed. He is lazy in the ring and lately he has tended to rely strictly on his power.

Zayas isn’t the type to get in a fire fight with most anybody let alone Ennis. He is a boxer and has been brought along beautifully by his handlers over the last seven years.

I am hopeful that the better opponent brings out the best in Boots. I will take him by decision while perhaps scoring a knockdown along the way

 

I truly feel like this will be a close fight that goes down to the wire. Both Xander and Jaron possess speed, good punching power and technical skills to put on a fantastic fight. Boots wins 115-113 SD. I think Zayas is gna give it a real go and maybe see a rematch down the road

 

I think this is close to 50-50.

 

I’d give him almost a 50% chance, altho I slightly favour Ennis because of the advantages in speed and power. But Zayas is skilled, and can be pretty awkward. Could see Boots getting impatient/frustrated. But ultimately I think Boots will get the job done.

 

I give Zayas a 30% chance. He doesn't look very quick movement and punch wise. Boots will be too much for him.

 

I noticed the YT comment section on many channels discussing the fight consist of "Ennis easy fight" "Ennis stoppage by 8" etc. I think if I had to bet my life savings on this fight I lean Ennis but I would be surprised if it is easy

Ennis couldnt stop Karen at 147 and did worse in the rematch. I dont see Zayas performing any worse and don't think he gets KO'd. I don't like Zayas's lack of power and he really has not faced a puncher so those two factors kind of weigh heavily for me.

Ennis is very talented but has defensive issues. Maybe he disrespects his oppositions power so far but I think taking unnecessary punches is a poor habit and becomes a routine before it back fires.

Neither guy has faced elite comp, neither guy has faced a huge puncher. Both will be each others best opponent

Ennis in my view is slightly more proven. Zayas has two belts but I don't think he has a win in the 154 top 5, funny how that works some times.

I like both fighters, gut says 116-112 Ennis

 

I don’t give Zayas a chance to beat Boots at all, he’s gonna get beat up and stopped.

 

I can see it being a lot closer early on than people think while it lasts, but I also see Zayas getting caught at some point, with the referee keen to jump in and stop it. It's too early for Zayas, and while Boots is nowhere near as good as some people think, I don't think there's any version of this fight where Zayas wins.

If Xander can stick to his fundamentals and frustrate Boots, he could be up on the cards at the halfway point, but I've got Boots to stop him between 8-12.

 

I expect the Slow Eddie Hearn fighter to lose so I'd say Zayas' chances of pulling an upset are good.

If Boots Ennis can carry Slow Eddie over the finish line & get a win, it will be a rare occasion where his performance has matched his hype.

 

I'm rooting for Zayas and I hope he can win...

 

Ennis will very likely stop Zayas, who seems like a rather ordinary fighter, very good but not really elite.

I see no chance of Zayas winning, and only a 20% chance of not getting stopped.

 

He has a very reasonable chance IMO; he is a tidy boxer and is huge for the weight, so whilst I think Boots will be the more active, front foot fighter, I don't think he will be able to put much of a dent in Zayas. I can envisage an eventuality where Zayas takes to the backfoot and outboxes the more active Boots, with the scorecards being controversial whichever way they go.

 

You're overeating Zayas by quite a bit
