Zhang is old and with a long layoff, Allen could drag him deep and chip away

    Why are they doing this?

Maybe they are repeating the hrgovic play? Making Zhang known to the more casual boxing fans in england by letting him win against Allen. Then they use Zhang to build up Itauma (or make a fight with a popular fighter of theirs like wardley etc). Zhang is a good name on the record for anyone, even the forum will see it like this. And Zhang can look great against Allen, so many will want to see him against Itauma or someone else from England.

    Why is Allen doing this?

In the fight against Hrgovic I didn't really see Allen try to win. I didn't even see him trying hard to stay in the fight. And the referee also was quick to end the fight (considering it was a popular englishman in england being stopped, known for his durability).

So I assume they all prepared for that result and everyone was in Agreement, that that would be the result (anything else would have been idiotic anyways as we all know). Maybe Allen just sells his name now and rakes in the money in order to promote fighters before their big fights in England.

I wouldn't expect him to try a lot against Zhang or risk too much. I wouldn't expect him to try and win the fight late and stay in the fight until then. I would expect a statement after the fight "he was honestly just better, i am not good enough, i lost fairly, blablabla". I think everyone has the same goal here and what does winning this fight against zhang give allen that he doesn't have already? He will get as many of those fights as he wants if he keeps losing, if he wins, he might get an actual destroyer as opponent and what will that earn him? He won't ever be world champion and isn't dumb enough not to know that.

Waiting for Dave’s YouTube video about how he will give a right good go, and he’s not the best but a right hard *******. He will sit eating lion bars on the sofa for the whole training camp, get in there fat as a pig and be used as a punching bag. His fans seem to enable this bizarre behaviour as some kind of relatable ‘working class champion’.

These fights are becoming a joke now.

    I love Dave.

He's one of my favourite fighters.

However, he is a British level HW.

Now there's nothing wrong with that.

Fighting at British level is a great honour.

So why is he continously getting matched up with world level HW's??

Even the lower level/fringe world level guys are a step too far.

And if that wasn't bad enough, Dave is not a big HW, and he only has respectable power.

    These fights shouldn't be sanctioned.

He should never have fought Hgrivic etc.

    It's getting dangerous now.

He needs to drop back to the domestic scene.

You can’t buy a butter knife in the UK without a loicence but Dave Allen keeps getting fights sanctioned. Go figure.

This. Allen doesn't seem to me to be hard to hit, and that's a terrible thing to be against Zhang. Assuming ZZ does any training at all, he's going to obliterate DA.

Also btw zhang and allen is from a sports perspective extremely irrelevant compared to the viewership it will have. Zhang is very old for being out so long. He is being groomed to lose so some englishman next after allen (itauma?) and allen doesn't go anywhere anymore.

    Just saying...

Not an interesting fight. I'd prefer to see Zhang in with another old guy like Luis Ortiz or Nelson Hysa.

Dave Allen should either fight low-level journeymen or retire.

I don't think Itauma can go from Hrgovic to Zhang tbh

I believe the winner is being lined up for the winner of the Dubois v Wardley rematch.

On that, did anyone hear Itauma say that if Wardley had won that fight he would have dropped the belt and Itauma v Hergovic would be for the full belt.
That makes no sense to me.
