Depending on the era you fought in would very much determine how much you weighed. None of what you said here takes away from my point.
He took lots of naps and ran a few miles a day. I have published contemporary accounts of his camps. It was nothing out of the ordinary.
I agree with every word of this post, however it leaves me puzzled as to your approach to discussions on cross era fantasy bouts. Basing predicted outcomes of cross era fantasy fights, on the premise that one fighter fought under the prevailing conditions of the era in which the other competed, takes something inherently speculative, and pushes it to such an extreme that it's frankly meaningless. You're literally predicting the outcome of a fight involving at least one boxer who never existed. My approach to cross era fantasy fights, is I don't comment on them. For the reasons you highlight, I see no value in speculating on the outcome of a fight contested by 2 x fighters from vastly different eras, who fought under completely different conditions. Fighters prepare to win actual bouts, not to be favoured in cross era fantasy fights decades after they died. Instead, I rank fighters purely based on what they actually achieved in their own era. That approach clearly makes the most sense to me and by that measure, Marciano is clearly an ATG. For what it's worth, I rank him #5 all time at HW.
He is certainly a greater fighter than either Mercer or Morrison imo ,but that isn't the issue being debated.
It seems strange to even consider that Morrison could beat Rocky yet? He has a 40 pound weight advantage 4 inches in height and 9 inches in reach and he has faster hands than Rock. If Rocky doesn't land big time,,,,,,,,,
He was a great opportunist who took advantage of a massively depleted and very short time frame.. Someone even like a Herbie Hide would have swept that time period without breaking a sweat. God forbid what a Larry Donald would have done.
Yeah I get it and agree it can get silly at times. There’s a ton of variables. I don’t necessarily think the jumps are to preposterous to make but I get it. But there’s no fun in not discussing lol.
Because anybody who knows anything about boxing knows Marciano's far greater than Morrison and Mercer.
That isn't the issue, the question being posed is, does he beat them? For example ,I think Marvin Hagler is a greater fighter than Adonis Stevenson, but that doesn't mean he beats him.
Did people see the first panel??? Rocky is out weighed by 40 lbs!! Thera no way he could possibly overcome that. This isn’t some fat auto mechanic or plumber that Rocky would have fought that was 225. These are top conditioned elite contenders. You can’t give up that kind of weight against top guys like that. Remember the light heavyweight with the gland issue who ballooned to 206 and Rocky hit him at will for what 9 rounds and couldn’t KO him. Thats a fat mediocre fighter at 206. Imagine these powerhouse 225 pounders smashing Rocky getting their whole bodies behind their bonbs. It’s sheer physics Rocky’s going down.
