How much of a chance do you give Xander Zayas to beat Boots Ennis?

No... you're underrating him.

 

He's not even close to ordinary, he just boxed the ears off of Abass Baraou and Jorge Garcia in back to back fights, who are two of the best pure pressure fighters at 154, who were themselves coming off of excellent dominant wins against the undefeated and highly ranked Yoeniz Tellez and Charles Conwell. Those wins were against fighters far more impressive than Karen Chudkhazian who Ennis should've lost to in their second fight. This will not be an easy fight for Boots.

 

Yes, I think he can beat Boots. Ennis is obviously quite skilled against come forward fighters, and his power is solid albeit a bit overrated. Paddy Donovan had Karen hurt worse than Boots did, and Ricardo Salas obliterated Villa, who Ennis battered for almost 12 rounds before getting the stoppage. Sure, the Lima blowout might seem impressive, but was Lima truly hurt or was it merely the speed and the guns blazing barrage that got to him? Zayas is one of those guys that people have been sleeping on for far too long, mainly because his matches are boring as hell. Yet someone like Shakur or Haney put on a boring clinic, and everyone hypes the hell out of them as P4P talents. While Zayas does the same thing, without the fanfare or the praise, and is routinely forgotten about. Spomer alongside Baraou and Garcia are world class pressure fighters, as is Sosa, and no only did he beat them, he made it look easy. I've long underrated Zayas, because I've been rooting against him and wanting him to lose, yet he never does. Have I been in denial of his level of talent? Yes, and intentionally so. Because I'm usually a big fan of his opponents and want them to win. But over time, I cannot deny the kid is special and there's a reason for his level of confidence in seeking out and taking this fight. So not only are most boxing fans sleeping on is chances, so is Boots. I don't think they realize, he also packs far more of a wallop than most realize, stopping Robert Valenzuela Jr. and Elias Espadas is no easy feat, and he dispatched them with relative ease. There's a reason why guys don't just walk through him. Yes, he has excellent footwork and control of range, but his power is a deterrent. He said he made a conscious effort to hone his boxing skills, and not rely on his power, and based on his recent performances, I have no reason to doubt him. He's a smart fighter and a smart kid, who is going to give Boots absolute hell and yes, possibly win, and I'm not ruling out by stoppage.

 

Who the **** has Ennis beaten that's any better?

 

Zayas has barely lost a round over the last several years, and no Abass and Garcia are not easy to beat.
