He was an absolute grub. Leonard could have laid down and won by DQ as others did, but it wasn't in his nature.

 

I’ve always kind of disliked the way that foul is enforced.

It seems that most of the time, the fighter only gets punished if the other guy gets hurt (or acts like he’s hurt).

Otherwise, it’s usually a warning or nothing. Only rarely do they take a point away

Totally agree. I find it "unmanly" in the most manly of sports. The common standing fouls are much more palatable.

 

I remember the first time I heard this match being bandied about. There was actually a local boxing radio show in my parts in the early 90s, which i think was called Punch-Lines. Anyway, the question came up where listeners were invited to call in and I was so taken with the matchup I called in. I told them that although I was a big Chavez supporter that I felt he had next to no chance. This thread has me reminiscing about that show. How cool was that? A radio show solely on boxing.
