Why wasn't Luis Ortiz a part of the wider Klitschko era ?

My view too, but I remember being called a vile racist back then for daring to suggest that Povetkin might beat Ortiz

You ridicule and reply "no u". Brilliant...

Of course Vitali beats Ortiz. Who are we talking about? Don't change the subject. You don't get it; it ain't that Ortiz is great, it's that Wlad is massively overrated.

How did Wlad's style change when Manny Stewart saved him? Why did Manny change him? That change was not going to save him from catching a shot from Ortiz that puts him to sleep. Much as you wish otherwise, Wlad had a skaky chin. Ortiz was a big heavy with good power and skills. Plenty enough to sleep Wlad.

Wlad only ever got to be champ because Mama Klitschko forbade Vitali from beating him up any more.

Ortiz was always a bum. Wlad ko's him early, without taking any punishment. You are simply trying to raise Wilder's bum status by bragging up the closest thing to a contender he ever beat. BTW dummy, I never once stated anything that amounts to "no u" You are dumb as ****.

Ortiz is bragged up by those trying to float Wilder's pathetic career. Wilder never beat anyone worth a damn, Ortiz being the only one that was even marginally a contender.

I'm not going to argue Wilder was great, but the display of heart he had in Fury 3 made me warm up to him a bit.

Povetkin was a way better fighter, both in the amateurs and and in the pros. Not even close.

Povetkin is the most overrated fighter on this board.

When Povetkin was highly ranked, and they were, too, he didn't fight and made no effort to get Tyson Fury, Vitali Klitschko, David Haye, Nicolay Valuev, Joseph Parker, Andy Ruiz, Chris Arreola, Luis Ortiz, Kubrat Pulev, Jarrell Miller, Robert Helenius, Derek Chisora, Bryant Jennings, etc. ... in the ring.

He signed and then backed out of fights twice with Wladi Klitschko. His trainer (Teddy Atlas) at the time admitted they faked injuries to get out of the fights because they thought he'd lose. When he did eventually fight Wlad, he humiliated himself.

Povetkin was one of the biggest drug cheats of his era. Along with the entire Russian Olympic team in 2016, Povetkin was part of the government backed PED program. (See the documentary Icarus)

Povetkin signed to fight Bermane Stiverne in 2016 and Povetkin got caught cheating and the fight was scrapped.

Povetkin signed to fight Wilder in 2016, got caught cheating and the fight was scrapped.

Povetkin, while juiced to the gills in 2016 and having failed all his drug tests that year, pummeled late sub Johann Duhaupas in Russia (which ignored all the positive tests), and Povetkin was removed from the ratings by multiple orgs for his cheating.

Povetkin never won one of the four major titles.

No pro fighter in memory failed more drug tests, avoided more fighters, was bounced from more org ratings for cheating, was part of a national illegal PED program, had more fights cancelled because of his own cheating, and, when he passed his drug tests, got dominated in major fights quite like Alexander Povetkin.

A cheater is going to cheat. And he was arguably the biggest drug cheat of them all.

He was a blight on the sport. Yet some still view him with rose colored glasses.

Deontay Wilder engaged in 13 WBC heavyweight title fights. He won 10.

Alexander Povetkin engaged in two title fights, and won zero.

    Not even close.

I'm not saying one is or isn't better than the other, but I don't see why a title belt would matter.
    It's the competition
I always felt Whyte had a better resume than Wilder during that time, but back to Povetkin. He may not have won but during the time Wilder was a title holder Povetkin fought Joshua, Whyte and Hunter and a possible debate could be made that any of those could potentially be better opponents than anyone Wilder beat
I'm not saying that is or isn't the case but think an argument could be made

Where is the evidence for him being at fault for not fighting these guys?. Were any offers made?

What do you mean they "Declined after multiple KO defeats"?

Who did Wilder and Ortiz beat before those defeats?

    Wilder's best win is Ortiz.

Ortiz's best win is Bryant Jennings.

Bryant Jennings's best win is who? Dimitrenko? Szpilka?

Parker's wins against Andy Ruiz, a younger Chisora (X2) and Zhang make Parker clear of the above. Ironically, he beat Wilder and Zhang after suffering a KO loss, that you claim is completely dehabilitating, a Zhang that although he beat on points had never been KOd either.
Oh, and there's the little detail of Parker winning every round against Wilder and completely exposing him.

    And I don't even like/rate Parker.

Just so we're clear then, following your logic....

Usyk has just vacated the belts, so if he fought Itauma in his next fight and Itauma won, Charles Martin would still be better than Itauma because he won a belt?

    Your logic is flawed.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

Wilder beat Stiverne for the WBC belt.

Then Wilder knocked him out in a title defense.

Povetkin could've fought Stiverne but Povetkin got caught cheating and the fight was cancelled.

Povetkin could've fought Wilder but Povetkin got caught cheating and the fight was cancelled.

Clearly, Povetkin didn't think he could beat either without cheating. Or he wouldn't have cheated.

Is itauma a notorious drug cheat? Why are you comparing him to a drug cheat?

Povetkin was a fraud. He didn't even beat anyone for the gold medal. His opponent was too injured to complete in the Olympic final.

Despite being a state sponsored PED abuser, Povetkin failed to win any heavyweight championship and didn't even win his gold medal in a fight.

Povetkin is the ultimate fraud. Even after cheating for years, he didn't win squat.

Wilder's best win was his two-knockdown, eighth successful title defense against the undefeated Tyson Fury

Wilder entered the ring as champ, left the ring as champ, reigned for another year and made two more successful defenses after that, before defending against Fury a second time in Wilder's 11th title defense.

Fury left the ring after the first fight with a bruised and battered face and the Challenger's paycheck. He didn't win anything that night.

It was a successful defense by Wilder. Plain and simple.

Pretending that didn't happen won't make it go away.
