Compare the speed of Ali with Mike Tyson

sometimes it’s the shots that don’t land that really shows how fast it is as weird as that sounds

look at that right hand that followed the right hand body shot that sails over the head of the crouching spinks at around 12.01. It’s literally a blur.

 

After Holmes and Tubbs, Mike was still "hungry", and dropped a few pounds for the fight with Spinks.
IMHO, the best version of Tyson should not be called 1988 Tyson, but the Tyson Spinks fight.
So not a peak year, but a peak fight.

Ali put plenty of power into his punches. Watch the 7 punch combo he landed on Sonny Liston in their first round of fight 1. Blazing fast 7 punch combo and it bucked Liston's knees.

Watch some of the combinations he landed on Foreman in the early rounds of their fight. Fast, head snapping combos, Foreman was clearly hurt by them.

Ali was not throwing 5-6 punch pitter patter combinations that the likes of Dokes and more recently Usyk often throw. When he threw combinations, he usually put a lot of power into them.

That being said, he did not have quite the same natural power as a Tyson. So obviously he did not throw combinations that were as powerful as Mikes. But he was obviously putting everything into those combinations and they carried plenty of power.

 

Filed a lawsuit against Cayton that very day. No loyalty Tyson got what he deserved by 1990. Good.

And after seeing Spinks St Louis entourage, he had it coming too. Good.

Spinks looked decrepit against Tyson that night. What a joke. Sweating and farting profusely.
