Great win for Rayo he finally learned how to bend his legs and keep that chin tucked.

Can't believe what I just witnessed. I was like hmm... that looked like Rayo cracked Santos when he down as I watched it live but maybe not. But then I saw the replays, as said, like half a dozen of them, and it was as clear as day and the commentary team didn't mention it once despite them watching the replays and commentating on them as they did so. Not a single one of them.

Sure Rayo had dropped and hurt him badly with legal shots and was probably going to win but he cracked him with an egregious illegal shot and the ref could've by rights DQ'd him but at bare minimum he should've deducted points from him and given Santos 5 mins to recover as per the rules

Edwin fought like a complete idiot. All he had to do was avoid close and mid-range exchanges. He was doing well when he kept it on the outside in round 1. Even after being hurt exchanging, he kept doing it. A lack of intelligence and nerve.

People are saying that it was payback for what Santos did in the first fight.

They're saying that but it's not the same

Yes, they both hit each other when they were down and were wrong to do so. No argument with that whatsoever. However, the commentary team immediately mentioned it when Santos did it and the ref stopped the action, gave Rayo some time to recover as he notified the other officials to count the KD but that Santos had also hit Rayo while he was down and then he deducted a point from Santos for doing so.

Last night not a single member of the commentary team mentioned the fact Rayo hit Santos when he was down and then continued to ignore it during repeated replays like it never happened even though everyone, obviously including them, could clearly see he did so.

Rayo likely would've knocked Santos out but had the ref not ignored the illegal shot, given Santos time to recover, and deducted a point from Rayo for hitting Santos while he was down it might have been different and if Santos was unable to recover in the allotted time he could've, as per the rules, DQ'd Rayo

Santos hits Rayo while he's down in the first fight and the ref stops the action and deducts a point from him even though Rayo wasn't nearly as badly hurt as Santos was in the rematch

Rayo hits Santos while he's down in the rematch and the ref completely ignores it, doesn't afford Santos anytime to recover, or deduct a point from Rayo, and hands Rayo a KO win

Saw someone on X claim that it was the same as Inoue vs Fulton

Fulton was nowhere near the canvas when Inoue cracked him with the follow up left hook

One of them said that to me as well, to which I responded... 2 wrongs don't make a right!

The thing I find most egregious and which really irks me is not the fact Rayo hit Santos while he was down but rather how not a single member of the commentary team and DAZN broadcast team mentioned him doing so even during repeated replays, which must have been roughly about 10 times in total. The ref opting to ignore it was bad but there not being so much as a peep about it from anyone on comms or punditry?
