You guys want to have some fun? I gotta say that the type of questions posed on this Forum that I love are the ones that make me think. The kind that has me scrolling through my memory like it was a database of sorts. So, I was reading about some bizarre, ring oddity the other day and I thought, for ***** and giggles, let's compile 15 rounds of ring oddities because there does seem to be an inordinate amount of them in our sport. But can we do this per round? I say let's give it a go. Remember, it had to have happened that round and has to border on the unusual. I'll get the ball rolling 1) A) Carlos Zarate v Alfonso Zamora - lunatic from the crowd jumps into the ring interrupting matters until the cops roughly excuse him for the evening. B) Curtis Harper meets Efe Ajagba and when the bell rings for round 1 Harper calmly walks out of the ring and returns to his dressing room. C) Anthony Hembrick v Booker T. Word - Hembrick and his cornermen engage in a cocky synchronized break dance routine that lasts for minutes. When the bell rings Word KOs Hembrick. D) Roberto Duran KOs Pedro Mendoza and then KOs Mendoza's girlfriend when she attacks him. E) Kaleb Slaughter v Curtis Harper - Slaughter bodily forces Harper out of the ring, falls on top of him and begins punching and kicking Harper who wins on a DQ. F) Luisito Espinosa v Khaokor Galaxy - very delayed KO 2) A) Tyson Fury vs Sefer Seferi - a fight breaks out in the crowd and both fighters watch it for a while instead of boxing. B) Juan Martin Coggi v Eder Gonzalez I - Gonzalez drops Coggi, who is so buzzed he is helped by the hometown referee, timekeeper and his corner holding him up on the apron by his shorts to retain his title. C) Harry Duiven Jr. KOs his Dad 3) A) Tony Wilson's Mom starts hitting Steve McCarthey over the head with her shoe. B) John Meekins vs. Mohammed Kawoya - Referee rules a TKO win for Meekins at the exact moment that Kawoya throws a punch that drops Meekins. C) Freddie Pendleton v Ed Pollard - Freddie hits Pollard after the bell ends the round and while being restrained he battles his cornermen and is DQ'd 4) A) Kermit Cintron v Paul Williams - Cintron falls out of the ring and injures himself. B) Riddick Bowe v Elijah Tillery - Bowe hits Tillery after the bell and Tillery begins kicking Bowe until Bowe's manager Rock Newman grabs Tillery around the neck and pulls him over the ropes. C) Andrew Golota v Samson Po'uha - Golota bites Po'uha on the neck. D) Victor Galindez v Mike Rossman II - Galindez continues hitting Rossman after the bell and when Andy DiPiano, Rossman's brother enters the ring to intervene, Galindez hits him too. E) Floyd Mayweather v Victor Ortiz - Ortiz drills Floyd like a torpedo with his head & Floyd quickly responds after Ortiz apologies with a left-right KO before Ortiz gets his hands up. 5) A) Lennox Lewis v Oliver McCall II - McCall suffers a nervous breakdown. B) Bazooka Limon pulls down Sharmba Mitchells shorts mid-round. C) Nate Campbell v Robbie Peden I - Campbell hangs his chin invitingly to Peden and Peden knocks him out. 6) A) Denny Moyer v Cyclone Hart - both fighters fall out of the ring, Hart lands on his head and Moyer injures his ankle - Hart sues the Spectrum for loose ropes. B) Danny Williams v Mark Potter - Williams dislocates his right shoulder and is defenseless until he pulls out a left hook that drops and eventually stops Potter in the same round. 7) A) Holyfield-Bowe II - the fan man incident. B) Albert Davila - Enrique Sanchez - the monsoon that whips up in the open air stadium in Miami. 8) A) Peter Müller vs. Hans Stretz III - Peter Müller knocks out the ref- B) Hilario Zapata vs. Fidel Bassa I - Zapata is tripped by the Bassa corner and a fight ensues where Zapata gets KO'd but is allowed to resume the fight. C) Page v Coetzee - timekeeper blows it and the KO is clocked at 3:48 of the round. D) Leonard - Duran II - No Mas. E) Brian London v Dick Richardson - the Brawl in Porthcawl 9) Ken Salisbury vs. Alex Temelkov - Both corners invade the ring and start fighting with the boxers, with the ref hammering some dude from Temelkov's corner and giving Salisbury the win by DQ. 10) Paul Ferreri v Sid Vicera - beginning of last round Ferreri extends to touch gloves and Vicera clocks him, knocking him out. 11) Virgil Hill v Adolpho Washington - Washington is cut and an overzealous cameraman tries to get a closer look between rounds and bangs his camera right into the cut, opening it wide causing the fight to be stopped. 12) A) Lee Roy Murphy vs. Chisanda Mutti - Fight ends in a double knockdown that only Murphy is able to get up from. B) Roger Mayweather and Lou Duva lock horns after the Vinnie Pazienza fight. 13) Ad Wolgast v Mexican Joe Rivers - the double knockdown where referee Jack Welch starts to count but helps up his buddy Wolgast and counts out Rivers. 14) Joey Maxim v Sugar Ray Robinson - Robinson outlasts referee Ruby Goldstein, who had to be replaced in the 10th round under 104 degree heat, but he couldn't outlast Maxim as he could not answer the bell for the 14th due to heat prostration. 15) Betulio Gonzalez v Shoji Oguma II - after the bell ends the round a trophy is hoisted in the ring for the victor. The decision goes to the challenger Oguma and Gonzalez goes ballistic, runs over and kicks the trophy and has to be physically restrained by his corner until he storms out of the ring.

John Wesley Meekins vs. Mohammed Kawoya, round three: Referee rules a TKO win for Meekins at the exact moment that Kawoya throws a punch that drops Meekins. Hilario Zapata vs. Fidel Bassa I, round eight: Someone in Bassa's corner trips up Zapata, so Zapata tries to attack them and gets knocked out (according to him, it was by Tomas Molinares). Ref Ernesto Magana gives Zapata five minutes to recover before resuming the bout. Sorry, I don't know how to summarize this one concisely. Ken Salisbury vs. Alex Temelkov, round nine: Both corners invade the ring and start fighting with the boxers, with the ref hammering some dude from Temelkov's corner and giving Salisbury the win by DQ. Lee Roy Murphy vs. Chisanda Mutti, round twelve: Fight ends in a double knockdown that only Murphy is able to get up from. I guess this isn't that bizarre since round thirteen has one that sounds even weirder.
All added. Tell me, was the referee from the Salsbury-Temelkov fight Charkey Ramon? I think I've seen this one if so. Ramon was an outstanding jr. middle back in the day whom I believe had to retire due to a detached retina if not mistaken.
Roger Mayweather cracking Lou Duva Didn't Duran Crack an opponents Mother that came at him with a high heel shoe??
Derrick Gainer vs Freddie Norwood was just a bizarre and dirty fight all round. And then the referee doing a long count on a low blow. This content is protected
Robert, Mayweather-Duva is a good one. I recall the Duran episode. I think he nailed a fighter's girlfriend or wife who attacked Roberto after he knocked out their significant other. For some reason the name Pedro Mendoza sticks in my mind but perhaps more investigation is needed.
Flo, I'm looking for a singular incident, the Gainer-Norwood fight was about 11 incidents for each round it lasted. My God, what a dirty fight. I like where you're going though.
Two nominees for Round 8: 1) Greg Page vs Gerrie Coetzee. That round went over the time limit (I’ve seen it referenced as 40 seconds up to ‘almost a minute,’ at which point Page stopped Coetzee. Gerrie’s team protested with no result — WBA upheld the verdict and didn’t even award a rematch. 2) Ray Leonard vs Roberto Duran II. No mas.
In that case. Kermit Cintron leapfrogging out of the ring against Paul Williams. This content is protected
