Could Dempsey clear this duo and go 2-0?

Hello, InMemoryofJakeLamotta. I cannot even envision either of them, at their best, getting to the 6th round against Jack Dempsey, at his best. But either of them could have moments with Jack, or not. So, yes, I am going with 2-0 for Dempsey.

I'd go 2-0 for Jack without Sonya, but trust me - she knows.

Johansson might get lucky with his punch but probably not.

Floyd was FAST and tricky but still Jack was Jack, a guy with a seriously aggressive style that Patterson would have trouble with.

    2 - 0 for Jack.

I dont know much about old man Dempsey; but why is my boy Floyd being so cheaply discounted?

It's true most of the Fighter's in Dempsey's day had no jab. Floyd has one of boxing's best jabs. He would cause serious trouble for any old time fighter. pure & simple.

I think Dempsey would KO Johansson, but Johansson has a chance for an upset with his right hand. Patterson might be a handful but I favor Dempsey

I think Patterson v Dempsey would be an absolute delight of a match. Dempsey has never seen speed like Floyd, and Floyd, for once not heavily outweighed, has never seen the ferocity of Dempsey...yet he has the reactions, quick hands and power to combat this two fisted animal. Dempsey's aggression might actually play into Floyd's hands here as Jack was not particularly defensively prudent. Wow, what a fight this could be. Over within 6 and I can't pick a winner...

    Dempsey beats Ingo...

Neither man would be able to handle Dempsey s power.

I think it's an example of the case where people overrate power punchers in H2H fantasy match-ups.

I think prime Dempsey turns it into a brawl with Johansen. There could be knockdowns both ways and it’s a KO that could go either way but in this case I ll pick the fighter from the old days.
While Dempsey had a punchers chance and Patterson didn’t have the best chin Floyd was probably too good. He was brought along by a master trainer fighting in top amateur competition up to an Olympic gold medal. Dempsey learned to fight in bar backrooms and mining or logging camps. Tough as nails but he’s just not going to have the technique / skill Floyd had. Also Floyd was maybe the fastest champ ever till Ali. Floyd by UD or late stoppage.

I'm a big fan of Floyd's but he had a short reach of only 71 inches, which meant that his jab lacked distance and was not dominant. Even so, I think Dempsey would have trouble defending against Patterson's speedy combinations. I pick the mature version of Floyd to upset Jack.

His chin is his undoing. He may be faster, but Dempsey himself was fast enough to keep up, and his chin and power far surpass that of Floyd’s.
