Monzon was a boxer/ puncher,he would break Hearns.

 

Everyone here is going to sleep on Dick Tiger. That's a bad idea. Tiger from 1959 to 1963 ate a lot of excellent middleweights alive. When you're too tough for Gene Fullmer, you're no pushover for anyone -- including Monzon and Hagler.

 

It's got to be dominated by earlier MWs because it was the 2nd most prestigious division and MW's regularly campaigned at HW.

The problem with SRR is his lack of success at higher weights when he was usually bigger then the HW champion. He also showed up at MW when the "Murderers Row" had left the scene.

 

Not only was SRR not "usually bigger than the HW champion", he was never bigger than the HW champion.

Of the HW champions that reigned during SRR's career, Patterson, JJW and Marciano were around the same height as him, but typically had around 25lbs (35lbs in JJW's case) of solid muscle on him during their respective reigns. All the others were both taller and far heavier.

 

The man was a master of smack baby-talk.

 

Yeah it would be bad for Hearns, although I can see him lasting maybe 10 Rounds if he's lucky. But it would just get uglier and uglier as the fight wore on.

 

For me too.

 

When I picture the fight in my head, I see Monzon probably getting out boxed through the middle rounds, but after 6 or 7 he slowly starts to bust Tommy up and it just gets worse after that.

So, Monzons only edges are, " upper body strength,championship experience, durability, stamina " Mmmm....
you could also add, iron chin, indomitable will to win, and an unshakable belief that he is the better of anyone he faces, and he will win one way or the other.
