Fastest hands at light heavyweight besides RJJ

It means nothing so far as Calzaghe>RJJ. RJJ is the 2nd or 3rd best win on Calzaghe's resume. RJJ beat Lacy the following year. It wasn't close.

Whatever you want to say about RJJ when Calzaghe fought him he was still superior to Calzaghe's level of competition.

 

If 2008 Roy Jones Jr is the 2nd or 3rd best win on your resume then your resume is ass cheeks.

 

That's a reasonable assessment.

RJJ is really top 2 just there's a case to say one of Calzaghe's other late opponents might have beaten him. But it's an argument nothing solid.

 

A guy that is off the beaten path for handspeed is Zsolt Ederi. He doesn't have a huge legacy, but was a lineal champ with very fast hands.

Hopkins, Kessler and Eubank were clearly better wins than Calzaghe's victory over a borderline shot RJJ. His wins over Lacy (a combination of a dodgy shoulder and the beating Joe gave him meant he was not the same fighter when he fought RJJ), Reid, Mitchell and Brewer were better too, imo.

 

I shouldn’t be the first to say Benavidez.

 

I don't think Calzaghe landed a proper punch in that clip. Bunch of karate chops and open fisted slaps.

 

At his best Chad Dawson had some fast hands speed. He used to throw some nice quick combinations.

Great mention. Very quick hands and a nice technician as well. Underrated fighter.

 

Wanted to see him in there with Jones. But that bout was never going to happen during those HBO matchmaking days.

Though Virgil Hill was very robotic/ predictable in his approach, and could be countered because of it. He did have very fast hands.

 

Maxie Rosenbloom, Harry Greb were fast punchers as I have read.
