People hate overly defensive fighters but complain about Boots getting hit.

This just because you point it out don't mean you're hating

 

Ennis has potential to be an elite defensive fighter, he just loves to bang. He is basically a more athletic hagler-type with a splash of Meldrick taylor and Marc too sharp

 

I heard it is more buoyant than water in a spa bath, and shines the hair. Just watch out for tadpoles.

 

And Ennis does everything better than Madrimov who argubaly beat Crawford tbh. Im of the mindset that this recent generation is incredibly overrated and benefitted from fighting in a pretty watered down era.

the problem isnt so much that he gets hit, everybody gets hit, its that he gets hit because of mistakes he is making. that's different from getting hit by wild or unforeseeable punches. he gives you openings that elite fighters can take advantage of. he needs to be more disciplined and responsible in his technique. that doesnt mean he will be less effective or exciting, it just means that he eliminated any visible chinks in the armor.

 

i don't mind defensive fighters. it's a brilliant thing to watch when you see someone stand right in front of another person and not get hit.
but... along with the defense, i like to see them make the other fighter pay for missing those shots. not side step around and score a point or two taking pop shots. james toney was very good at this.

I think the Terry Norris comparison is the best one. Similar style and mentality and both brittle.

 

Disagree. Ennis is the much better boxer with better defense (when focused).

 

He wasnt threatened by Zayas. Go back and watch how he performed against punchers like Villa and Stanionis

 

When has Ennis ever really boxed let alone well? what fight? I never see him boxing at all, he is a banger.

 

It’s because of his fans that say that he can be slick if he wanted to be but he just chooses not to.
