The new fabulous three

    I see the "new fabulous three" as: Roy Jones Jr., Bernard Hopkins, and James Toney.

    We know that "The Fabulous Four": Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Marvin Hagler, and Thomas Hearns.

    Does my point of view make any sense, or am I just showing the level of my boxing "knowledge" in front of everyone?

    Toney didn't fight Hopkins. I think part of it is that the fab 4 all fought each other.

    when the thread leaves the first page, I will give an explanation of what I saw as a parallel. Although John is right - there was no Hopkins and Toney fight.

    Which stops Benitez from being part of it because he didn't fight Hagler. Unless you want to remake it for 147/154.

    There is talk about Montell Griffin, for whom RJJ was (justly) disqualified and it was his first loss, and in the rematch he knocked out Griffin in the first round? Is that Griffin?
    I agree with John Thomas that it is a failure for the "new fabulous three" that Hopkins and Tuney never fought.

    Nah, those guys were never even conditioned on the level of SRL and Hagler, let alone fighting on that level

    They don't really qualify as Toney and Hopkins never fought but I still do like the idea of the three of them being their successors for the 90s.

    Especially with how Toney idolized Tommy, Hopkins looked up to Marvin, and Roy always said SRL and Duran were some of his favorite fighters.

    it should be the fabulous five with Camacho thrown in. Both Roberto and Hector had feet of clay by then
