Let's get it out there--by their own rules, Gassiev is the WBA world champion

Congrats to now two-weight champ Gassiev whose legendary power enabled him to become the HW champion of the world when shot to bits after being ravaged by injury and inactivity all throughout his entire HW tenure who is 7-0-0 7 KOs at HW when coming in at 230lbs or more with the only blip at HW being the loss to Wallin where Gassiev inexplicably came in at 216 which is way less than he did for all his other fights at HW

And what a KO it was in his WBA reg title winning effort. Sure Pulev was old but truth be told he looked much closer to his former prime self than Gassiev does his former self. Gassiev is a shell of the fighter he once was and his reign might not even last one fight. If it wasn't for his crazy power his career would've been buried in the dirt years ago

What I mean is did you think he'd drop all of them at once.

Either way, this is the saddest way to become a world champion.

That's why we differentiate between world champions and title holders.

I said he was probably going to retire soon. Besides, he wouldn't need to relinquish all three, just the WBA.

Whether you like it or not like it is not the point--that is the second time you have tried to change the subject. The point is Ituama could have had a shot at a belt. But he wouldn't even answer the calls.

Ah so back to hating Itauma. At least he isn't losing to Wallin, beating up 44 year olds and waiting for his belt to arrive via email...

The WBA tried to scrap this title and were sued into keeping it. This title is being phased out.

The WBA had no interim champ so they had to give it to Gassiev.

The regular title can work in a one belt system. In a 4 belt system no one wants to be an insurance policy that will languish for years if not needed.

Also fought more or less on equal terms with Pulev prior to the KO. Despite the highlight reel finish that wasn't exactly an impressive or promising performance from Gassiev. I say this as a big fan who wishes he could regain some of his CW form at HW, but injuries and inactivity appear to have gotten the better of him.

But he turned down an opportunity to fight for a belt. Didn't even answer the phone call. So...

To fight better opponents. Why you're dead set on criticizing this is beyond me.

Why would he not pick up the belt? That kind of shoots down the "better opponents" idea. Looks like he thought maybe Hrgovic ISN'T the better opponent.

Hrgovic has achieved far more at heavyweight than Gassiev, so behave.

And as previously stated that "belt" held zero value at the time.

But he doesn't have a belt.

Why not pick up the belt and then defend it against Hrgovic, if it was so easy.

Hrgovic Itauma was made before Usyk vacated the belts. And with that in mind Hrgovic is better than Gassiev, he's certainly leagues above Otto Wallin and has more experience against top heavyweights, which may be what Itaumas handlers are looking for
