Criticism of Itauma Is Fascinating

You're being a little unfair there and missed out the "so far" bit, but I agree it's premature.

Itauma passes the eye test with flying colours, but hasn't yet needed to pass the chin-check or gut-check or even stamina check. How does he fair when someone is dogged and still in there in the 2nd half of the fight firing back when he's gassed out?

I think the problem with him being so fast and hitting guys with shots they can't see is it doesn't tell us much about the inevitable step-up where he needs more dimensions - that he may well have, we just haven't seen it yet

It makes him less than Tyson, who he is being compared to.

I'm not even skeptical that he is a good fighter. I am just explaining to you that the reason for the "hate" you see is that people percieve a palpalpable difference between the words and the deeds.

Not too many. Most are flat-out caught up in the words, and most of the rest are committed to soberly pointing out that the deeds aren't quite matching. The haters are few and far between.

Ring magazine is completely meaningless. Fighters fight for titles when they get the opportunity from alphabet ratings. Ring ratings are ass.

 

As above. Ring magazine ratings are meaningless. Fighters pay no attention to them.

 

Ring has a belt and their ratings are largely respected as opposed to the alphabet orgs.

 

They are literally meaningless. Fighters target and win the alphabet belts. Ring is usually awarded. Completely, totally, 100% meaningless.

It doesn't matter. It is literally not what the fighters are targeting and fighting for. The majority can disagree the earth is round. Doesn't matter.

 

The ring is just an old failed boxing magazine. Just because it's now owned by turkey the richest guy in boxing don't automatically give it any more credibility

 

It does, because the ring magazine belt is a belt that is held in high regard. Usyk currently holds it, and everyone was trying to fight him rather than say, the WBA belt holder.

High regard by who? It isn't what the fighters target. You and fans can hold it an any regard you like. It is not what they work towards. It doesn't matter.

 

It doesn't make it meaningless. Fighters work towards becoming "the" champion, though I guess you could count being emailed a vacant belt. I don't.

But it is the ratings organizations that the fighters follow so they can get the belts, thus going back to the original argument. Tyson targeted the fighters that could make him.

I don't care about any poll. There are things that are opinions, and things that are just facts.
