I don’t know mate, the guy took the clean shot a lot better than Ogawa did, although Cordina did hold back on following up and letting the right hand go.

Either way, if the police prosecute on that, the country is gone.

I don't like the thought of ex pros fighting bare knuckle, as I feels it's beneath them. But i would say in Selby's fight, it looked like easy money.

I did read somewhere that Selby got £5k, which isn't peanuts for ten minutes work but isn't worth risking brain damage for. By now even the dimmest ex-pro should know that BKB isn't as easy as they might have thought.

    I doubt that's true

BKB made two attempts at signing Lee but the money wasn't good enough

It was the 3rd attempt where the money was deemed enough

I can't see Lee taking 5k, this is a former World Champion who was set to box at the MGM Grand

Sad state of affairs if true.

I mean Lee basically completed boxing. British, Commonwealth, European and World Champion, signed with Haymon and boxed all over the world.

He’s a consummate pro, so he likely still did a camp, cut weight and all the rest of it. It’s not like he’s some journeyman getting called in on a day’s notice, or rolling in after a night on the town ala Fun-Time Frankie, yet we’re talking £5k.

Hopefully he’s doing it because he wants to, not out of financial need, otherwise what does that say about the sport.

There's not a chance he did it for 5k

I'd hope not mate, and I can't really see it either. That's barely covering kit, let alone a camp and team etc.

Also would be hard to rank 20 boxers from these shores over the last 20 years who had a better career than Selby.

Crazy how short the window is in sport, especially boxing. At least in most others you can play on for a few more years without risking CTE every time you clock in.

He has been quoted as saying they made 2 previous attempts before offering him a very high amount of money

It's weird how fast the bare knuckle variant of boxing appears to be growing as I find it an uncomfortable watch, the few times I've tuned in anyway

    I can believe that

They need ex pros to gain credibility and for that they'll need to pay

No chance he took 5K to headline BKB.

Whatever he has or hasn't done with his career earnings I'd be surprised if he doesn't own a home or two in the area of Wales he is from.

Always liked Selby as a boxer, side story mate of mine used to box same bills amateur and pro with his old trainer/manager Chris Sanigar .

Mate said he was a real character, great boxing brain and did say to me before Selby fought Stephen Smith on sky CS really liked the fight, real underdog that night and he was certainly on more than 5k even as an unknown package be it live on Sky!!

Which is the whole model really, trying to short-cut to legitimacy. Can't build a credible sport the long way, so they rent the credibility of men who built theirs in the real one. And Selby gets to play another round of Russian roulette for 100k.

EDIT: Looks like Trout got knocked out last night.
