Would a new Heavyweight Super 6 style competition help a new era form?

It seems many big fights were helped to be made with tournament style match making ie
    The Super Six
    Super series

So with the HW titles now fragmented, would a Super six style tournament potentially build a new era
The vacant IBF title could be contested in a first round bout. I read, Sanchez and Itauma are numbers 1 and 3 respectively (2 vacant), 4 Hrgovic

    Kabayel WBC chanp
    Dubois WBO champ
    Gassiev WBA champ

Who could make up the other 3?
Sanchez, Hrgovic, Wardley, Miller, Itauma, Parker

The winner would be unified HW champion
If Usyk has retired they would start a new lineage and if Usyk is around (which i think would be unlikely after that time, would be the only real major fight to take)

    Thoughts?

Outside of the 3 title holders, who would be the other 3?

I'd prefer an 8-man single elimination tournament. But I'd happily roll with this, too.

It would help. Not start a new era but help. With fighters picking up belts after losing another, multiple champions, worse is multiple champions in the same organisation, undisputed becoming disputed at times. The only way is going back to a time when a casual observer could reasonably guess who the champion was. Even if the guess was wrong the observer would know enough names in a division to try a guess. Maybe I’m dreaming but if we’re stuck with these organisations at least they could have only one titlist and Unifications would mean more. I can’t see an ERA with the way things are.

Daniel Dubois vs a winner of Hrgović vs Itauma (WBO belt)
Agit Kabayel vs a winner Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua (WBC belt)
Frank Sanchez vs Bakhodir Jalolov (IBF belt)
Murat Gassiev vs Jarrell Miller (WBA belt)

Then the WBO & WBC unification and IBF & WBA unification and then the battle for the universally recognized, undisputed championship if Usyk retires by that time. If not, the winner of the tournament vs Usyk.

I'd like some type of tournament. If this doesn't happen, then we risk having the 4 belt holders defending against lesser opposition and the division becoming stale.

It looks all good on paper, but the likes of Tyson Fury and Joshua are not going to fight anyone in their prime in a boxing match ever again. It is unlikely they face each other to begin with. They are both in the retirement fund portion of their careers. You cannot pay either of them enough to fight Kabayel and get slapped around and stopped. They do not need the money.

This is where this type of tournament falls down. Due to the money many of these fighters have earned or can earn from a certain career path, getting them to sign up to face anyone is impossible.

Sure, but we're assuming the tournament is being held in a perfect world.

Or the top 20 fighting each other in at least 2 fight a year, would do the trick ... with the only rematches being on any close or controversial fights. Those outside the top 20 fighting each other to force their way into the 20.

I'd rather more of a WBSS format. The round robin feature of S6 was terrible and ****ed up the tournament

    A tournament would be great.

I think a reason for it not to happen is that the fighters want to earn money and could make as much with lesser opponents.
That money could be 'remade' by the tournament winner who would come out as way mote famous than before. But that would make all other promoters the losers of the tournament.

So what would be an idea is for all promoters of the top fighters to get together, draw up new contracts so they have an equivalent share in all the fighters involved, so they profit equally from the winner. Together they would control the heavyweight. Which would in itself probably become a problem for matchmaking with the next up and comers.

But that way, maybe the tournament could get made. And it might be competition for the sheik

    That's the thing
    Usyk has dropped the titles
Now we still view Usyk as the HW champion, but if he retired tomorrow, there would likely be several debates on who people call the champion
A tournament of sorts could eliminate that debate

    Hmm 8 guys

Looking at the Ring top 10 I like everyone there. Fury would probably opt no to participate is my guess. Would the Dubois-Wardley rematch and Itauma vs Hrgovic be part of the tournament or would the tournament happen after that for the selection process?

I figure the competitors should be Dubois, Wardley, Kabayel, Hrgovic, Itauma, Sanchez, Ajagba, Gassiev

I think a winner from this bunch is hard to pick, the tournament champion would have to win three consecutive top level fights in a row which the guys in this group largely have not done

Least likely to do it: Gassiev, won the title vs old Pulev and lost to the Swedish guy, a career cruiserweight who has not fought the best in the division.

Middle rung: Wardley, Sanchez, Ajagba, Hrgovic

    Top Tier: Dubois & Kabayel

    Wild Card: Itauma

I don't see Sanchez avenging the Kabayel loss, if he can get a bracket spot away from Kabayel it makes a big difference in his finish. I think his best hope is to face a guys like Hrgovic and Wardley who he should be able to counter punch and box with.

Wardley has some holes in his game that have been exposed in his last two fights. He hits very hard with the right hand but I don't like his chances in most of the fights. Maybe his best bet is to face Itauma who is relatively untested and hope to get the right hand in and score a KO. Hrgovic is probably another good match up for him where he will have a hand speed advantage

Ajagba has experience, size, and some tools in his arsenal. I think he is a vulnerable fighter. Not sure I expect much

Hrgovic is a fighter I've never been that high on but he takes a good punch, has good height and reach, and has been successful only losing to Dubois so far. I think good matchups for him would be Ajagba and Gassiev who I see as the vulnerable participants. While I picked Hrgovic as a good match up for Wardley, I think Hrgovic if disciplined and well conditioned could out box Wardley if he can safely evade the right hand

To me the class of the tournament are Dubois and Kabayel both of whom I believe are the most proven and accomplished fighters. Kabayel has shown less weaknesses and I think his style can be tough to manage. I think Kabayel can run the table but it's not clear cut
