It is an absolute joke this is on PPV in the first place but 3 weeks out not a single under card fight? https://boxrec.com/en/event/949931 Can't even remember seeing any rumoured fights? Even for DAZNs low standards this is barrell scraping
There is zero chance they will announce the buys for this because its going to be embarrassingly low. Outside of them fighting each other i genuinely don't know anyone who cares for watching either Fury or AJ anymore. Stale, stagnant, washed and mind numbingly boring. For the good of the sport, please, please both retire
This is why I was reluctant to get the DAZN Super-duper subscription or whatever it's called. I always like to pick which PPV I get, and I'm not touching this one with a barge poll.
Aside from them fighting one another, which obviously has huge commercial appeal, probably does 1m plus buys and sells out a stadium, does either AJ or Fury actually have a legitimate shot at regaining any version of the title now Usyk has vacated? Or is this basically the only option left, build towards the cash-out fight, rematch and possible trilogy?
I’d never heard of Prenga before this, and while I don’t exactly follow build-ups religiously, I’ve still no idea who he is or what he looks like. In a weird way, fights like this are probably why DAZN have this ‘Ultimate’ sub. Fights that’ll do dreadfully on PPV, but you don’t want to give away in a normal sub. Zayas v Ennis last week another example, that was just a bog standard HBO or Showtime main event a decade ago. Saw the other day they’ve got the Spence Jr v Tszyu PBC PPV on Ultimate which is interesting.
Usually I'd give Joshua the benefit of the doubt and say that he'd still sell a PPV against a scarecrow with gloves on, but the lack of promotion and undercard says a lot. I guess DAZN knows its numbers and will take a slice of the ultimate subscribers whatever happens, so it's kind of a freebie. Bear in mind that until the Jake Paul fight, Joshua was going to be on someone else's undercard in Riyadh for a warm-up similar to this and then took the joke money instead. They were barely going to announce that warm-up either so it seems that's just carried over. Makes you wonder why DAZN would go this length with Joshua when his biggest paying / most-watched fights will have been on Netflix...
Has anyone seen any rumours for the undercard? Makes you wonder if the main event is going to be cancelled?
Zuffa on Sky is a complete washout at the moment. One, all be it, good show in the uk and a monthly random show that has no narrative at all, in the early hours of Monday morning. I’m guessing the live viewing figures for that are in single figures.
DAZN Premium "freebie" PPV included in the top level sub... one of the "12" they promised. The day is coming where they include Misfits in that 12 if they aren't already doing it. Watch out for Fury-Froch PPV later this year.
The latest gem is Tuurki wants AJ/Fury at Wembley in Nov but not for a UK TV Audience. London at 2am in November will be wonderful
Even a cartoon 'fight' between the Pride of Love Island Tommy Fury v Eddie Hall was PPV and that nonsense will also be part of the 12. No wonder less and less people show interest in watching boxing these days.
