Pick a version of Holmes to beat '67 Ali

I think the Holmes that beat washed Ali would be able to beat prime Ali.

 

1978-81 incarnation would have the best shot but I can't see him pulling it off.

If I had to pick a specific fight, it would be his fight with Tex Cobb. I know Cobb was a very limited fighter, but Holmes boxed beautifully for all 15 rounds.

Also, I disagree with a lot of the comments on this post. I think Ali had the better and faster jab, while Holmes had the better movement, especially laterally. Between them, it's a very close 50/50 fight.

The fantasy version that you delusionalists keep imagining. Not any of the real versions. Not that one that got out jabbed by Lorenzo Zanon. Not the one who couldn't hurt Lucien Rodriuguez or went life and death with short notice journeyman Mike Weaver or lost to pudgy novice Witherspoon. Yep, the fantasy version who never lost a round and squashed all time greats with ease throughout his career. That guy stops Clay in whatever round he wants by whatever punch combo he wants.

 

No such Holmes exists, in this or any parallel universe.
