Dude, you should have seen me on the punching bag the other day. Goddamn textbook. I looked like a champion!
Your talking about putting someone in the ring with an experienced heavyweight who was a giant himself and could punch pretty good? Off of one fight ?
They were actually fighting live opponents, and one guys technique looks miles better than the other.
So you also think that Rico's footwork is much more dynamic, allowing him to crowd Usyk, and that he demonstrates a lot of head movement which makes him harder to land clean on, as opposed to Baer keeping his big melon nice and still so that Louis can detonate his bombs off it?
There is nothing dynamic about Rico's footwork. His foot speed is average and so is his footwork. He was leaning with his head forward the entire time. he was actually more open to the uppercut than Baer. Any fighter with a quality uppercut and the willingness to load up on it would have stopped Rico in under 5 rounds at most. Foreman, Liston, Tyson and Louis would have stopped Rico much earlier because they had great uppercuts and were willing to load up on it. Usyk correctly deduced that Rico was wide open to the uppercut very early. However, because Usyk is not a natural upper cutter, he was throwing pity pat uppercuts rather than properly loading up on it. Usyk was also throwing tippy tap combinations where he would throw 1 or 2 hard shots and mix them in with 3 tippy tappy shots as oppossed to the brilliant full power 5-7 punch combinations that Louis, Ali or Tyson threw. Usyk's reluctance to load up on the uppercut and his reluctance to fully commit to combinations is what allowed Rico to last so long. Its Usyk's conservative nature that led to this, not some imaginary "dynamic" footwork that Rico showed.
See, footwork is in the feet and not the chin. Rico managed to make the ring small for Usyk, who actually has well-noted and outstanding footwork. Baer basically plodded after Louis who is known for having planted feet. Man, you think there was a reason Rico was jinking his head from side to side and being herky-jerky like that? What reason do you think that was? Let me spell it out since my previous sarcasm appears to have flown right over your head: it is easy to look brilliant when you are fighting poor opposition and somebody who has all the dynamics of a punch bag leaking sawdust. Let me guess: Alen Babic is your ideal fighter?
1) There was nothing special about Rico's head movement. Nothing. He was moving his head and yet his head movement was slow. Any fighter with a strong uppercut and the willingness to throw it at full power would have stopped Rico. 2) Poor opposition? So Liston and Frazier are poor opposition? Lol. If you want to look at great head movement, Frazier is a great example of a guy with great head movement. Rico has never had a dream in which he could move his head anywhere near as well as Frazier. Yet Foreman timed him with perfection. Usyk is not a great combination puncher. He is also hesistant to load up on uppercuts. There is a reason why Chisora was dropped by uppercuts from Parker but not Usyk - dude does not committ to that shot. And it has nothing to do with quality of opposition. Ali fought better fighters than Usyk, as did Tyson for that matter. Rico is getting vastly overrated around here. Louis, Tyson, Foreman, and Liston would stop him in 5 rounds or less, most likely 3 rounds or less. There is nothing special about his head movement. He is easy to hit. Its Usyk reluctance to committ to uppercuts and full power combinations that allowed Rico to last this long. Nothing extraordinary that Rico did.
It is relevant because people are grossly exxagerating Rico's ability. So discussing other fighters is relevant.
And to answer this thread, Budy stops Rico. Both big heavyweights but one guy hits much harder and he likely gets the job done.
Wow, I hope everybody is taking notes of these FACTS that you are stating dmt = Louis never fought Liston and Frazier. You know this, right? Man, I wish somebody would fetch those goalposts. They are heading over the horizon now. You know we are talking about Rico and Buddy, right? YDKSAB This content is protected Stating the undeniable fact that Rico is better than Buddy Baer is not vastly overrating him. The fact that you abandoned Buddy in favour of bringing in Frazier, Ali, Louis, Tyson and Foreman to compare to Rico makes my case for me.
