I dont see it. Vits couldn't get out of the way of an old fat Lewis. Liston was deceptively quick and I think he'd surprise Vits with that long reach. Its a tough fight to call as Klitschko could certainly impose his will on the smaller Liston. But if I had to pick it'd be Sonny. Vits never proved he could beat a great fighter though id imagine there would be some he'd handle. Just not Liston for my money.

He literally outjabbed and outboxed Lewis, thats the entire reason why Lewis had to put his foot down and make it an inside war after round 2, he was getting cooked at range. At least watch the damn match and make up a believable lie.

OT: Obviously Vitali, Liston outjabbed 190 lbs midgets or caveman brawlers like Cleveland Williams. Outjabbing Lewis, even at that age is significantly more impressive, especially considering Lewis had a 5 inch reach advantage as well.

What facts? Watch your own film, right after Lewis supposedly “almost floors” Vitali with that jab he gets his brains rocked off with a right cross, misses a jab and then takes two more jabs and a cross. Even in this conveniently picked clip Lewis is getting outboxed at range pretty clearly, he just has more power.

Stop reading stats (which btw are completely misleading as Vitali’s volume and feints naturally decrease his accuracy on compubox) and focusing on 2-second clips that fit your narrative, sit down and watch the match, Lewis was almost KO’d in the second round, he was getting absolutely plastered when he tried to box with Vitali, he had to make it a war and bully Vitali up close to come back into the fight.

 

Even if that were true, Lewis would smack Sonny around 9/10 times

 

Vitali wins, and it's not just because Liston's 184 inch reach is fake news or because he has better feet. It's because Vitali has an almost uncanny sense of distance, and is frequently able to use body sway to goad a guy into punching at him, and then leaning back out of reach while punishing the opponent with his own unorthodox rising jab.

 

And the rarest of heavies---can move effectively clockwise or counterclockwise. Or forwards or backwards.

 

Dawg, I am not saying stats are everything or that you're wrong in thinking Vitali wins this fight, but you literally claimed Vitali outjabbed Lewis. Dino then posted stats which seem to indicate Lewis had a better connect rate for jabs compared to Vitali, and your response is "stop reading stats".

That's an incredibly bizarre response and reads like copium. If you think the stats are wrong or misleading, you should address that first before simply waving off stats as a potentially credible metric for deciding whether or not Lewis outjabbed Vitali.

I...did dawg, and this was the biggest L I've seen all week. "Volume and feints" don't change a glaring statistic that Lewis landed more with better accuracy lol. I was trying to be nice, but you're doubling down. You got it bro.

 

Are you serious or trolling? Vitali landed 25 more jabs than Lewis did. He just had less accuracy because he threw a lot more and feinted a lot which can get misinterpreted by the compubox as a jab attempt.

Vitali didn’t really have that good of a jab. Compare his performance against Chris Byrd to his brother Wladimir and it’s very apparent. It’s not very fast nor is there much power behind it. The only boxers in history who had better or comparable Jabs to Liston were Ali and Holmes. The three of them might be the best jabbers of all time.
