Harry Carpenter marginally over Reg Gutteridge both excellent Ian Darke was very good Adam Smith should not be mentioned in this company
Smith isn't even the best Brit commentator around now, Dave Farrar is far better. Harry Carpenter was the best for me, a genuine master of the art. Knew when to speak and when to say nothing. Too many today seem terrified of shutting up for more than 3 seconds. You're describing a televised fight, not a radio broadcast of a horse race for God's sake.
After I created the Poll I thought I probably could have added the ubitiqtious Barry Jones (Channel 5/DAZN) and John Rawlings (Talksport). I think Harry Carpenter was good because he actually started off commentating on radio broadcasts and then adapted to television very well.
Reg may have a shade over Harry for me Noel but it's very close! I needed to add Adam Smith for the sake of balance lol.
For my generation I may have to go with Ian. For humour Reg wins hands down. I remember watching one fight when a low blow was landed he said "that was just south of the equator" lol
Ha Ha yes I would have to have had Glenn McCory too then Mike. Both Jim Watt and Glenn McCory were great supporting Reg and Ian.
