Artem Suslenkov vs Joe Joyce: Your Prediction?

I think Joyce overwhelms him and scores a KO late.

Wasn’t impressed with Suslenkov against Hunter, which is his only notable opponent.

 

Joyce is truly the "old man" Foreman of this era. I really hope he wins a world title before he retires; I know he can.

 

I have a weird feeling that he is. I was thinking about it earlier. Usyk vacating gives lots of these guys at career crossroads or even the twilight of their careers a shot. Kind of reminds of the landscape post Lewis before the Klitschkos established dominance.

 

Depends if whether he can land a fight with the winner of Gassiev/Kadiru or secure a shot at the vacant IBF belt. Dubois and Kabayel aren't exactly impossible feats for him either but less likely routes for him at this stage of his career.

 

Suslenkov's 3rd round blowout of Artur made him the man who beat the Mann.

Juggernaut Joyce even this high-mileage model may be a different proposition though.

 

I kind of agree. Suslenkov is clearly well conditioned and strong, and he also packs a punch. But his workrate is kind of low, he isn't that hard to hit and he likes to fight in a clinch. That's going to be a problem against Joyce who is massive and would like nothing better that to manhandle Suslenkov in a clinch and to rough him up there. Suslenkov doesn't hit as hard as, say, Chisora or Zhang and I don't think he will trouble Joyce if he fights like he did against Hunter. What Artem needs is to lighten his feet and use his jab and head movement to pick the Joyceosaurus apart at range.

 

I think Suslenkov will win a decision. Would love to be proven wrong though, It’s always nice to see an old man turn back the clock.

If he’d gotten the call to replace Yoka instead of Kadiru, Joyce would have a fair shot to become a “champion”.

 

I think he literally would've this Saturday if they went for him instead of this no-name. Feel like Joe's earned it on historical resumé alone, and would've made for a fun narrative on Saturday night - the old-timer and nearly man from a couple of years ago getting one final chance at a title.

Joyce was always quite overrated - effective but limited... And he's badly faded to the point of irrelevance.

On the other hand Suslenkov isn't really that good, has his share of faults and isn't going anywhere.
