I would give Morrison a 30% chance to catch Michael in the first 2 rounds. Those are not great odds. After that, Morrison has ZERO chance. Spinks wins, and likely gets a late stoppage over an exhausted Morrison.
Okay, partner. Red wig's in the bathroom, money WILL be on the dresser...If you'll excuse me, Ima put some chaps on.
Morrison would gas out and endlessly take punches to the face that would be not quite bad enough to knock him unconscious until the ref saved him.
This is a pretty good reply. But I give Morrison a much better than 30% chance of KO of Spinks early. In my opinion, Spinks does not have the power to be a legitimate heavyweight. In the first fight, he hit Holmes as hard as he could but did not faze him. Holmes won the 2nd fight, imo. He wouldn't have the power to hold off Morrison. Cooney was a fraud. Steffen Tangstad? Are you kidding me?
The win over Holmes is better than any win Morrison has so not sure where the confidence in Morrison is coming from
I agree that Morrison would gas out ... then question is whether he'd knock Spinks' head off his shoulders before he did so. I think we all agree Spinks is the better boxer - he could muffle the attack and get deeper into the fight where it would suit him. On the other hand, one could argue that he could have done that with Tyson too, instead of folding like a cheap suit in roughly a minute.
Morrison was a decent boxer, quite aggressive and hit like a truck. He was nothing like Holmes as a fighter.
Vaulin was a skilled and tough MF and I'd argue significantly tougher and larger than Spinks. Also, and not to put too fine a point on it, Tommy put him to sleep in the end anyway.
Vaulin didn’t beat Holmes and knock the crap out of Cooney. Morrison would do well in a five by five ring.
Spinks would beat the spray on tan off of Morrison. Tyson had skills and an aura that made Spinks doubtful about his chances; Morrison had none of those things because he wasn't too good at fighting. Tommy would come out fast- he always did because he fought tight with a lot of nervous energy- and he would get the mobile, awkward Spinks. Spinks would move, Tommy would follow him and try harder and Spinks would sneak in counters. Trying harder would undo Tommy and he would be ragged by the end of the 3rd round, maybe the 4th. Then Spinks would light him up.
