It does matter. Again, even if it was for the equivalent of a #1 contender spot it would have been worth doing. As it is, Murat is currently blameless. He's done everything he could to get them all in the ring. Maybe they will answer the call now. One guy we know won't is Kabayel. My personal hope is Parker gets his issues resolved and he can get in there with Murat. Joe don't run from anyone.
I get where you're coming from, but up until Rico most were under the impression Usyk would continue (hence the Kabayel speculation). I won't blame Gassiev for inheriting the belt the way he did because that's largely outside of his control, but I do expect him to fight bigger names as a champion, and I felt their team could have done far better for finding an opponent even for a short notice scrap. He'll get a shaky pass for now pending his next steps forward. I too hope Parker gets this sorted. It's gone on long enough they need to **** or get off the pot.
Gassiev is trying. He's getting the best he can and things just keep falling though. Hoping the give Parker the time served and he can move on. He'll fight any of them in a second. I do think he is destined to win one more.
There are multiple guys on the July 11 card who would make better opponents than the guy he is scheduled to fight. It's hard to believe they couldn't find a better replacement opponent. I also struggle to believe that nobody better than Yoka was initially available? Is everyone in the entire top 25 ducking Gassiev? Because there are probably 20 plus guys better than Yoka
Usyk a smart man he realized after his last fite that he is down the other side I predicted that neither he or bivol would be the same after back surgery it looks like bivol fared better post-surgery but he is younger /,Usyk has nothing more to prove after a stellar career. I love that he beat the oversized behemoths/and am glad to see the fury area group aging out am liking the young lions coming up Dr. Robert Quam/Chiropractic Physician
Rubin Carter has a fantastic resume by today's standards. A resume better than Gassiev's or Lebedev's Griffith, Fernandez, Benton, Mims, etc. Nobody considers him great due to not rating higher in his own era Plenty of other examples including Jerry Quarry
Carter was a middle, and Quarry a heavy. The standards are higher for those division. They have been around much longer. Both have a bunch of losses. Lebedev has one of the greatest cruiser resumes.
Why should they be penalized for the division being around longer? Wouldn't how they rate in their own era be a better way to compare them? How is Lebedev greater relative to his era than they are? Quarry in his own era is behind Ali Foreman Frazier Norton Young (Ellis is arguable I think) Lebedev is behind Usyk Breidis Gassiev Adamek Cunningham (GuillermoJones, Huck, Drozd seem arguable) What is the 70s heavyweight closest equivalent to Lebedev if not Quarry)
Lebedev is one of the top ten CRUISERWEIGHTS of all time based on resume. Not hard to understand at all.
