Joyce was winning the fight until he quit. So stop acting like Suslenkov knocked him out in one round. You didn't even make a prediation so STFU.

You can't accuse someone of ducking a fighter they already fought and lost to. Also, that's not what Joyce said. He said taking the rematch was a mistake, and from a career standpoint, it was. He hasn't been anywhere near the same fighter since, regardless of how highly you rate prime Joyce.

Sad way to finish. Wish he had not taken this fight. Has to be the end.

No surprises that Joe was stopped here, it’s time he retired.

Joyce winning? Yeah, that was never in the script. Pack him up. It's glue factory time

I am referring to joyce's interview immediately after zhang 1. He said he did not want the rematch as they tend to go the same way. His team pushed him into it and the rest is history.

Duck as a general term for avoidance. Joyce wanted to duck a rematch with a puncher at 38. Later on the cusp of 41, with 4 losses in his previous 5, it is plausible he would want to duck another puncher. Joyce confirmed this by ducking out of the last 2 rounds against a non-puncher in Suslenkov.

    Hi Guys.
My take on this is Joe should be comfortably retired now, taking it easy, maybe doing some commentary, he is quite an articulate chap, or he was, just today I listened to a Q@A he had with Tris Dixon recently, and the answers came after very long pauses, he knocked back some questions with " what do you think " it seemed he was not entirely across the format, he has been a brave ( too brave maybe ) fighter over the years, and been involved in many a slugfest, as we know, such fights have a way of catching you up in later years, he is with a new trainer Bomack, have I got that name right ? but honestly at his age can he really be taught many new things, old dog new tricks spring to mind, plus old trainers in particular, have seen the damage that staying in the game too long inflicts on the ageing boxer, and should no better, sorry but I think the authorities should have a good cold look at fighters that have had hard fights and brutal stoppages and say enough is enough.
    stay safe .
    Mike.

In retrospect the Takam win was bad for Joyce.

He was getting battered and outboxed for 5 rounds before finding a huge punch that wobbled Takam and he was able to get the finish.

But from that fight on he became fully in love with the idea that he can eat anything and just find a knockout punch so he never developed his boxing skills beyond the level of going life and death with old Bryant Jennings.

Hang em up Joe, protect those little grey cells from further damage.
Time to park the juggernaut, and enjoy the purses i hope you invested wisely, from you exploits in the squared circle.
