Not when there’s a better opponent on the very same card. People are entitled to be happy or unhappy about it and It’s not anyone’s business unless they’re Gassiev’s manager, wife or mother.

Again, why can’t he fight Suslenkov, who’s not the best but far better than Kadiru and fighting on the very same card? And when did Hrgovic not want to know about a fight with Gassiev?

Just as Charles Martin understood the IBF rules better than rest of the boxing world, yet he was trashed as a papel titlist. Stiverne understood the rules of WBC better than the rest of the boxing world, and he was ridiculed as a paper titlist and he had far more legitimacy as a HW titlist than Gassiev.

Okay, Itauma swerwed Gassiev to fight Hrgovic. There are still over 50 HWs that are better than Kadiru, and one of them is fighting on the very same card.

Hmm. Wilder got 1000x the ridicule that Gassiev is getting even when he first won the title. And he was far, far, far, more of a legitimate titlist. Was that the reason, because he was smarter than them?

Yes. The win over 45 year old, borderline top30 Pulev who hadn’t beaten a legit HW contender over half a decade is Gassiev’s only accomplishment at heavyweight which only reiterates how ridicuolus It is that he’s holding a title.

It’s extremely relevant when Wallin is the only Gassiev opponent with a pulse at HW and the decisive loss demonstrates his level as a heavyweight. It could not be more relevant.

Just like Charles Martin and Bermane Stiverne did. The only thing that’s silly is being emotionally attached to these guys to the extent of getting personal about the criticism they’re receiving.

He has the opportunity, meaning he hasn’t done anything yet. Fighters get judged by what they have done, not by what they haven’t. The only possible comparison point is when they first won their HW title. So at that particular point, Stiverne>>>Gassiev.

He demonstrated the ability to be a unified champion in a different weight class almost a decade ago. The only thing he demonstrated at HW is being better than 45 year old Pulev and worse than Wallin. He has a better legacy than those guys for his work at cruiserweight, again, a different weight class almost a decade ago which have nothing to do with his standing at HW. The only thing that’s sad is making this personal.

Bringing up sparring stories is usually an indication on how poor the fighter’s body of work is. Again, this is exclusive to his work at HW. But yes, I thought Gassiev was one of the hardest punchers in the game after his KO of Dorticos.

It’s a very good card as I mentioned in my previous post, would be better than good if it was Suslenkov replacing Yoka.

All that being said, if Gassiev goes on to defend his belt against the winner of Hrgovic/Itauma succesfully, he’ll definetly be a legitimate titlist better than Stiverne and definetly better than Charles Martin. Maybe even better than Haye. But that’s a huge if.

We don't know that Suslenkov wanted it. Perhaps Suslenkov didn't fancy it on a week's notice. But Murat, who tried to get the best in the division, is hardly afraid of Suslenkov. Let's be real.

Charles Martin had nothing to do with this. By the way, he won his title against undefeated Glazkov fair and square, and then defended against AJ--the best out there. The man is no world beater but he deserves credit too. He did nothing wrong except not live up to your standards.

I'd of picked 44 year old Puelv to beat that fat slug, who has lost to Demetrice King. So there is that.

Martin and Stiverne were their own things. The issue here is that Gassiev has worked nobly to rebuild his own career, and a lot of people are impugning his integrity, when the fault lies with those who won't fight him. Countless very good East Euro and Central Asian fighters have their career stuck in neutral while Brits and Americans get chance after chance. You are telling me that Murat is the worst champ? He went 12 with Usyk. Lost round after round and just kept fighting. Dubois failed to do that TWICE. Yet Murat had to make his path, where Dubois kept being giftwrapped shots failure after failure. Seriously, shame to anyone who is not getting behind Murat, here. Your outrage should be against the system that discriminates against him.

Yes, he hasn't failed yet. So your comparisons to failures are non-sequitur.

Gassiev has more legacy in this sport than Stiverne, Martin, and Itauma to date put together.

Which is a great accomplishment, and it is awesome that despite injuries and the discrimination that eastern European fighters face, he has put himself in position to add to that legacy.

Sparring stories FROM THE GUY HE SPARRED WITH. Nice trying to change things around to make this a MArtin Bakole situation, but this is talking about the guy you tried to big up talking about how Gassiev is the hardest he has been hit. Gift-horse's mouth.

I don't think there's even a single Russian that bigs up Gassiev like @catchwtboxing

Fair play for the consistency but on paper he is a terrible HW and one is imagine the WBA hope sells his title real soon

He did what had to do. The rest didn't. And he was publicly swerved by Ituama and the others when he offered a shot. So as far as I am concerned, until someone steps up and takes it from him, he's the legit champ.

A few minutes search suggests no such offers existed. Sounds like this claim of yours has as much legitimacy as your claim about Suslenkov above.

But we know who was offered the shot, 40 something Joyce who just quit against the same Suslenkov.

And Suslenkov is only ranked by WBA, meaning he’s paying them and just fought on the undercard of the WBA champ. Why on earth would he not want it?

He has a lot to do with it as a fellow paper titlist. He was a crackhead who became a titlist by accident and sold it to the highest bidder without putting up an açtılar fight and treated by the fans accordingly.

And yes, Suslenkov is as ordinary as they come. Still much better than Kadiru. The thought of Gassiev who also looked as ordinary as they come at HW ducking him is no more far-fetched than the thought of Hrgovic who fought Zhang and Dubois ducking Gassiev and has more merit.

And the Gassiev/Itauma fight will happen later this year or early next year, as suggested by both sides.

What we do know is Joyce was offered it and after that, they petititioned to get Kadiru ranked so as far as we know, that’s the extent of the attempts made to replace Yoka. If you claim there was more, the onus is on you to provide proof.

He legitimized himself to some by beating Stiverne, some continued to consider him a joke. He definetly got abuse far, far, far worse than Gassiev. That’s not even up for debate.

And your opinion on Stiverne is just that. The fact remains that he was coming off of a top10 HW, something Pulev hasn’t done in many, many years.

Stiverne is a guy with a loss to Demetrice King. You can't move past Gassiev losing one to Wallin. Pulev is definitely better than any version of Stiverne.

He was born smaller. Therefore started at a different weight. His overall legacy in this sport dwarfs Stiverne, Martin, and Itauma thus far combined.

The Wallin loss is certainly not so forgiveable for someone with aspirations of being a top 10 heavyweight

 

Suslenkov was a hell of a lot more game than Kadiru was.
