Derek Chisora vs Murat Gassiev for the WBA Heavyweight Championship

If Whyte's left hook knocked Chisora out cold, then Gassiev's would send Chisora's chin all the way to Ganymede. So on that basis I am very much for this fight.

 

Ah yes a MUCH YOUNGER mid 30s Pulev who lost to Chisora in a rematch. 45 yr old Pulev is gassiev best win at heavyweight and he is cherrypicking a shot Chisora, stop glazing this guy

 

When Gassiev retires, the greatest Russian HW will still be the one without any championship pedigree.

Yeah, but Pulev has the kind if style where he doesn't have much to lose. He never was mobile.

 

I tend to agree but Gassiev has the chance to wipe that perception away.

 

Isn't that just rewarding Chisora with another undeserved payday?

 

As much as Gassiev can probably consider himself lucky to be classed a champion at heavy after loosing to Wallin, I cant see Chisora having enough to cause more than 1 or two problems.
Its not a fight anyone would want to see, i mean for the paying fan Wilder might actually be more attractive.

 

Gassiev is very overrated really. His HW resume is unbelievably thin.

I know Chisora is shot, and triangle theories in boxing are flawed but think about this. Wallin literally outboxed Gassiev, whereas Chisora battered Wallin about all fight.

 

So many Gassiev haters on this forum,.

I don't get it. He was a beast at Cruiserweight, has a hell of left hook, and is a very nice person and never trash talks.

'Lost to Wallin', 'ancient Pulev' blah blah non-stop!

It's probably to do with them wanting to minimize Usyk's resume. Can't think of any other reason.

 

Chisora has fought everyone and has given pretty much almost everybody a tough fight (apart from Fury)

 

This ain't cruiserweight anymore, and I imagine most people were expecting him to step it up a gear by now.

 

Yeah It's been a slow ride at HW for him, however (one off night aside) he's done OK and still scored highlight reel KO's like the Pulev one, and has now got some luck with the WBA.So it'll be interesting because we know there's ability there and with having the belt he'll have to face good opposition.

I think he might surprise people and become a decent champ at HW and hold onto the title for longer than expected.

 

Chisora is 42. How many early 30s top contenders has he fought recently ?
