Great jabs are a problem for Canelo, but at 154 his style was different. He liked to fight off the backfoot and counter in combinations. He had incredible hand speed and I think him and Canelo would be a great fight. I favor Canelo, who was also a huge JMW, but Winky would be live.
Ive always been high on Bud, saw him live and I think his fight is unique. He has a rawness about him I dont see in most other fighters. I think he competes with any WW in history - Any. Not winning every fight, but he was ****ing down to fight.
His greatest victory is being tested July 25th.. Spence better have something left in the tank. I see Crawford as more of a distraction if u ask me. It might set up a Charlo/Bud super fight..
I think Bud competes favorably in any era. At 147, 154 and 160. When he fights he looks like Marvelous Jr to me. By all accounts he lives the same stoic-flavored existence that Hagler did.
"Super fight"? Really? This HAS to be sarcasm. It would be a super dog race with Charlo as the rabbit. 12 round UD for Crawford with a total of 100 punches thrown.
Big fan of both, but feel Wright would be naturally too big. It wasn't just Wright's height, but his build as well He was able to go up to LHW and look strong and solid Wright was troubled by Simon who aggressively swarmed him, but Cotto seemed far more patient
I don't think Cotto was special. He was a very good but not great fighter who benefitted a lot from his heritage and his association with Top Rank, who got him all sorts of layups not afforded to others. Mayweather, Pacquiao, Jones Jr., and the like were special. As to the question: Cotto was clearly outboxed by Trout. Wright was a step above that. Wide UD for Winky.
I disagree. Cotto was the prototypical Boxer-Swarner. Replace any modern fighter from 135 to 154, none would've gone undefeated in Cotto's era
Disclaimer: Winky is one of my 10 favorite boxers of all time, Cotto is one of my 20 favorite boxers of all time Winky would be an extremely bad style matchup for Cotto. Both are converted (Winky being a right handed southpaw and Cotto being a left handed orthodox fighter), Winky's right hand is better than Cotto's left hand. Winky is also physically too strong and too good at the catch and counter, specifically up top. Cotto wears down when people press him and will concede ground and move, move move.................he would have no choice but to against Winky and Winky is going to score continually, He wouldn't get stopped by Winky but he would definitely slow, and Winky depending on which shows up (I'm assuming the best version), he might rain down 7-800 punches in the fight so Cotto won't have time to set and throw or reset (which is when he shows the most power). He'll have to be on go the entire time. Winky UD12 116-112
