Rahman will face Simms in his comeback bid

He has not fought since 2012, when he lost a decision to a nobody in some form of prizefighter tournament over 8 rounds.

Robert Simms will probably stop him if it is over 8 rounds or more.

 

Rahman will almost certainly lose this fight. Even back in 2012-2013 this likely wouldn't have been winnable for him.

 

I still remember seeing Rahman letharged and obese with his arm draped over the top rope waiting to get hit by Povetkin......................yeah this won't be good.

No boxer should be granted a license over the age of 45, really; there's an argument that the cutoff should be 40, especially at the top level. Unless they are fighting in a 4 or 6 round exhibition/charity match against someone who is maybe a couple of years younger or older than them, the dangers ramp up significantly, and the body cannot take the damage; the risk of injury is magnified. Fighting at 53 is insane; Rahman needs better people advising him.

 

Simms beat Kenzie who knocked out Rahmans son. Just to further put things into perspective.

 

I'd like to add that I would be shocked if Rahman managed to pull it off. It isn't just that he's a 50+ fighter with a long damaging boxing career behind him. It's a 50+ fighter coming out of being retired to 13 or so years and in his last couple of fights he looked absolutely shot to **** not above losing convincingly to a Simms fighter even back then. This is ballsy from Rahman, and history tells us it probably won't end well for him. But IF he wins this fight he should be taken seriously and given an opponent that could land him in title contention with a victory.

 

Simms has lost his last 4 fights and obviously desperate for a win. But he could hardly have gone for lower hanging fruit than the 53 year old Rahman.

Simms loses this and he might as well burn all his gear.
