This content is protected Lara is the longest reigning champion in boxing.....and has one of the worst title reigns in the sport. I swear, Lara's management are doing their utmost to find the shittiest possible opponents for him. What's the point of a fight against Charcoal Booker??
I don't care that Erislandy Lara is not an exciting boxer. I'm amazed that he's still fighting. Good for him.
Money. Lara is 43, and they are milking him for all of his worth. Dangerous opponents will only be faced when the monetary gain is worth the risk.
everything wrong with boxing right there - wont see zuffa doing this once they get a proper stable going
Yet Lara keeps taking these fights, its as if there is somehow money in it. At his peak, Lara made about 750k per fight on average, except for the big ones like: Canelo, Hurd, or Janibek(cancelled). Ever since the Canelo loss, Lara has been mainly fighting cherry picks, and hes been making good money doing so. Lara still probably makes about $300k per fight, and I don't know about you, but I think this is pretty good money for a boxer in his 40s.
Has this been announced? The tweet seems to just say that Booker wants to fight Lara, not that anything has been signed. It's a real shame that the Janibek fight fell through because of how much it's stagnated an already lugubrious middleweight division.
He tried with Jabibek at the end of last year, and he has unified before. Lara is so frustrating because clearly he is not afraid of challenges, yet at the same time he likes to fight irregularly and mostly against cherry picked opponents.
He is not exciting if he is beating your A$$ easy, now if he has a dancing partner, see Williams, Hurd(fight of the year), Castano, Angulo(fight of the year), then you will see the dog in him, and this is a fact.
I think you got it wrong, he doesn't fight regularly because it is hard to find a fighter willing to face him, hence the "cherry pick" which is not his fault, so no, he doesn't like to face "cherry picks" nor fight irregularly but he needs to earn his bread, he knows he'll make more money with better known fighters, in return most of those boxers priced themselves out of fight with him.
I heard Adames wants no part of him I think he’s having a hard time getting people in the ring with him
