Golota showed his true colours a year before against Samson Pou´ha. Real shame he was such a headcase. Looked superb destroying a decent Darnell Nicholson (he´d just beaten John Ruiz) to get the Bowe fight. This content is protected
What I remember most was Golata was beating the hell outta him before the disqualification. He had some marbles missing
I feel that way about a few fights. Such as Tyson V Spinks, Duran v Barkley, Chavez vTaylor. Can remember seeing them like it was just the other day.
In the first fight, Bowe came in overweight, out of shape, and took a serious beating from Golota. Unfortunately, in both fights, Golota couldn't hold up mentally. It's scary to think how great a boxer he could have been if he had the mental toughness of someone like Tomasz Adamek. What happened after the fight was astonishing. Even after leaving the arena, Golota was carrying a baseball bat with him in case someone tried to hurt him.
They talk about boxer's having mental issues, but Golota had a garage full of em. But he' also had the skills to have gone far..if only.
