I meant that the public and pundit perspectives at the time was that Hopkins was on the downturn not that he actually was.

 

I just talked to Joe Mesi at the Lewiston NY Italian Festival this past weekend. He's a pretty big, wide shouldered guy. He seems to hold bittersweet memories of the fight game.
