I reckon we’ll find the Tszyu v Mahoney fight is in fact an elimination contest for the #2 position.

 

In relation to Grantlee, despite his incredibly patriotic predictions, the man carried Australian boxing in the mainstream for the best part of 20 plus years. Was in the corners of Fenech, Bugner against Bruno, Ndou etc. Leaves the likes of the modern day “experts” in the shade for mine.

 

Nothing bad to say about Grantlee Keiza. Agree about the patriotic part, one of the best authors of Australian stories as well

 

The Kieza kid was found out badly on the Aussie Forum by the brilliant FAB 4. It was the absolute worst period in the Kieza kids career. The FAB 4 ended the kids career as a sports journalist. I wonder if the kid has the same dumb clueless boxing knowledge these days ?

Someone get the Kieza kid back on the Aussie forum to take some more medicine. The FAB 4 is waiting to school him again.

 

Grantlee did a good job covering Jeff Fenech's career & to a lesser extent, Danny Green's. He always had the inside info on Fenech. One of my favourite memories of him was his coverage of Kostya Tszyu's fight with Zab. The day of the fight (or the day before, I can't remember which) he reflected on the betting odds (which favoured Judah) & declared that the American would likely have too much. The following day, he opens up with "as exclusively predicted on this masthead, Kostya Tszyu was too strong for Zab". He was Grantlee, but that's not what you predicted the day before.

 

That's good, b/c Nikita in particular, needs more fights. Pointless becoming mandatory & then being frozen in place without being able to take additional fights. If he gets past Ben Mahoney, a Michael Zerafa rematch might come into play. Keep the wins coming, then take the title shot. Just don't wait too long.

 

No chance he fights that fraud Zerafa. I won't even say again because the first fight wasn't one. Zerafa was going to pull out of the Hardman fight the night before.

 

Can concur Zerafa attitude. Later reports surfaced from his camp Zerafa had said before the Lara fight i don't feel like fighting. And sure enough he was stopped in the 1st rd. Yes I am sore about this as these odds would have been around 40 -1 and I didn't get a chance to win a motza and what was a sure thing.

 

Good times schooling the kieza kid. I remember him arrogantly thinking he had the Fab 4's measure and he got punished and quit like the Geales kid did at MSG. He was a scumbag I remember it was him who had posters made up of Choc Mundine out cold after the Ottke fight despite Choc proving he was levels above all the Aussie bums at the time without even having an amateur career.

 

Boxing is a tough sport yet we have so many dweebs like Badel and Damon who have never taken a punch in their lives as pundits.

 

Gus Mercurio was the best we had. Apparently boxed in the US , relocated here, commentated and reffed here. He was great but you gotta be old like me to remember. Back in the days when Melbourne was the fight capital. He was an actor aswell.

 

What annoys me as well is that not only are Damon and Badel dorks but they are actually both quite smug.
