On Saturday, Jacob Bank is fighting Pawel August, who defeated Simon Zachenhuber (BoxRec #36 at 168) earlier this year. Hamzah Sheeraz is fighting Zachenhuber. Isn't it obvious that on a big card like this, Sheeraz should be facing a live opponent, like Bank?
Because he's being protected massively. Bebic and Zachenbuber are the worst two back to back world title opponents I've ever seen. Don't expect corrupt Turki's favourite to be facing the likes of Alimkhanuly, Bank or Iglesias anytime soon!
Adames was a cherry pick too, they thought they had an easy title on their hands. The irony here is that before trying his hand at the world level, Sheeraz was fighting decent opposition. No idea how right I am, but to me it seems like the Saudi´s discovered him and are now trying to manufacture him in to a star. If it were only Warren handling his career, I imagine his level of opposition would look better than this.
According to Polish journalist Piotr Jagiełło, Paweł Augustynik had even signed contract to fight Sheeraz but was screwed by WBO and Zachenhuber team
He lost to Adames, the only decent name he's actually fought; they don't want to risk him actually having a loss on his record, so they've got him fighting pure cannon fodder. He's one of the most protected names in the sport at the moment. I don't think Sheeraz is as bad as some people think he is; he can definitely punch, and he did the sport a favor by smashing Berlanga. Unless they're lining up this fight by having them both on the card, I don't see why Bank has been given better opposition. If they ever fought, I think Bank beats him.
He was supposed to fight Pawel August on this card, the WBO got in the way as August wasn’t ranked within their Top 15 and this simon guy was. Sheeraz says he wants Jacob Bank or Jaime Munguia next. I’d like to see Sheeraz and Bank face-off in the Ring after the fight, the only good thing that could come out of this Can Crushing.
