One is the GOAT. One is an ATG. One usually didn't clinch much. One built his whole style around it.

I sacrifced myself by watching these fights again and counting every clinch.
Wlad clinched 132 times. 11 clinches per round. Highest round score: 15 clinches.
Ali clinched 114 times (counting only the clinches that ref intervened in). 9.5 clinches per round. Highest round score: 13 clinches.

Who would have won the fight if the clinching was the only scoring criterion? Let's compare every round.

Grabbius Clinch vs Grabimir Clinchko, Clinchasa 2026, Boxing Forum 24

    Round 1: 11:9, 10:9 Clinch
    Round 2: 6:8, 10:9 Clinchko
    Round 3: 10:7, 10:9 Clinch
    Round 4: 12:12, 10:10 Draw
    Round 5: 12:14, 10:9 Clinchko
    Round 6: 9:14, 10:9 Clinchko
    Round 7: 13:14, 10:9 Clinchko
    Round 8: 10:15, 10-9 Clinchko
    Round 9: 9:10, 10-9 Clinchko
    Round 10: 11:11, 10:10 Draw
    Round 11: 11:11, 10:10 Draw
    Round 12: 9:7, 10:9 Clinch

    Total: 117-114, 6-3-3 Grabimir Clinchko

Grabbius fought bravely, but it wasn't enough for Grabimir who dominated the middle rounds. Even in the round 7, when Clinch went on the offensive, Clinchko beat him by one. The best rounds for Grabimir were rounds 6 and 7, where he outsocred his opponent by 5 clinches. We can't however say that Grabbius was destroyed here - he won 3 rounds and drawed another 3. Mind you, this is only scored based on the amount of clinches. Grabimir's clinches were way more tougher on the opponent, plus he did throw him around more. So he scored more clinches and they were more effective. Clinchko had to ease up a bit at the end tho after getting a point deducted. Grabbius wasn't penalized in the fight.

Ali trying to clinch with Dr Octopus is a doomed strategy for him.

I think you should consider not just quantity of clinching but also quality.

Ali grabbed and clinched. With Wlad it was like he needed a bedroom to consumate his passion.

Ali's clinching slowed out momentum in a fight. Wlad's clinching literally killed the fight altogether.

Wlad is the undisputed Clinch GOAT.

Grabimir Clinch's clinching seems more unfair and unsportsmanlike to me.

You can hardly call what wladimir does clinching. He straight up mounts his opponents.

In this fight yes. Usually he looked like Ali in Frazier II fight.
