Yep, any time that Floyd gets chucked in with a banger, then chances are he's getting iced.
Floyd was ten times the fighter that Tommy was,but I just see him getting drilled by Morrison s hooks.
Unless Patterson can get his own power shots in first of course.. let's not forget The Duke's chin was hardly Chuvalo Ish .

It’s funny because everyone picks prime Patterson to beat Ellis, they pick Ellis to beat Morrison, but they pick Morrison to ice Patterson.

Styles and attributes are a very important factor in boxing without even factoring in skill level.

Patterson may be more skilled, but with his attributes, he’s forced to go into range against the much bigger and devastating and explosive puncher in Morrison, whereas Jimmy Ellis can outbox Morrison from a safe distance, but Patterson could probably close the distance quickly and frequently enough against Ellis without worry too much about his power.

Morrison has an even worse chin than Patterson does. This fight depends on who lands first, and it’s probably going to be Floyd, due to better defence and far faster and more sophisticated offensive.

 

Patterson's chin is certified glass and Morrison will be the biggest puncher and the fastest starter Floyd will have ever faced. Tommy's chin issues began when he was gassed, but usually the other fighter had to walk through hell first to make him gas. I can't see Patterson survive exchanging with Morrison. Maybe if we can put Patterson on a boxing - only and "be a ghost" gameplan, he might be able to take advantage of his superior speed to hit and don't be hit.

 

I actually don't think Patterson had the worst of chins. Imagine prime Kovalev going up to fight Povetkin and Usyk. Patterson was so undersized compared to Ali and Liston. The only man who knocked him out that was his size or close to it was Johansson and Floyd chinned him twice back. Not saying his chin was iron either but those Liston and Ali losses need to be looked at in context.

 

Good post. Look at the guys who didn't knock him out. It was only massive punching Liston and Johansen who was a decent banger.

Yeah, it's certainly not impossible that Floyd pulls a Michael Bennt and overwhelms him early. He'd be somewhat live in this.
