On one hand, AJ got caught cold, dropped and badly hurt within 20 seconds so we didn't really get a chance to see any of the supposed improvements he's made under Team Usyk because the pressure on him would've been, as I predicted it would if he got dropped by Prenga, immense immediately after that and he lost all composure and was badly hurt, in survival mode and trying to make it out of the round which he only managed to do by the skin of his teeth.

That being said, let's not forget Usyk's current trainer who is also now AJ's head trainer is not the same trainer who has been training Usyk throughout his tenure at HW who was his head coach from Bellew to Dubois II. That was Yurii Tkachenko whereas his and AJ's current trainer is this little gimp Igor Golub whose amateur record on Boxrec which is likely incomplete is listed as 5-15 with 0 KOs

Even though Usyk is old and long past his prime he looked the worst he's ever looked since hooking up with him and so did AJ and Usyk also came in at a career high weight under him too, a way too heavy 233lbs


I don't like Usyk's current team at all sans Russ Anber. I don't trust Serhii Lapin or like him and Usyk has parted ways with his head coach Yurii Tkachenko who trained him for at least 7 years, long-time promoter and manager Alex Krassyuk who is a great guy, and long-time primary manager and advisor Egis Klimas

So how good exactly are Usyk's current team? Usyk has had many head trainers throughout his career, at least 7 in just 25 fights and I mean as in been the head coach in the corner for fights of his even if it was only once or twice which I think has been much more of a negative than a positive for him. He should really have stuck with Papachenko throughout his career because he's the best coach for him IMO. I liked Bashir too and Tkachenko was good too
