This "Mentally Weak" line gets thrown around at every guy in the sport. When Mayweather avoided guys at their peaks and fought them later on, was that him being "Mentally Weak"? Afraid he couldn't beat them? Joshua getting back in the ring just 7 months after the crash which killed two of his close friends isn't the actions of a "Mentally Weak" individual. Which is why that tag being thrown around is just nonsense. If that's "Mentally Weak", what's taking over 2 and a half years out of the sport like Fury, binging on food, alcohol and drugs in this time, blowing up to 350 pounds, all after simply winning a World Title? What about relinquishing the belts after a poor performance against a kickboxer, in which you very nearly lost? Is Usyk also "Mentally Weak" then? What about Parker's cocaine use? Whyte's weight gain in between fights? Ruiz showing no interest in proper nutrition? Wilder avoiding the best in the Division until a Fat Fury showed up? What about Povetkin's PED use? It's very easy to called these guys "Mentally Weak", when you sit behind your keyboard and wouldn't get in the ring with any of them, even if they had one arm tied behind their back and their ankles tied together. Joshua could've avoided the likes of Whyte, Klitschko, Parker, Povetkin etc on the way to World Titles if he so wished....The WBC let Wilder do that for 5 years. Joshua WANTED to be the best, there's nothing "Mentally Weak" about that. He came up short, but he tried. He was willing to fight the best, to try and become the best and he came up short. There's a reason Usyk respects Joshua by the way.
You think that losing every round and then winning by KO is worth more than 120-108 shutout point victory, and you think getting beaten the **** out of so badly that blood is coming out of your ears is a "great effort" that is a bonus to a resume... I'll keep using my conventional Wins and Losses method tyvm. There's additional context and then there's the arbitrary boardgame you've invented
A reminder that after holding a WBC HW belt for 5 years, Wilder's best win is Luis Ortiz.....A man who's best win is Bryant Jennings. Wilder dominating the "American Scene" this generation, would've been like somebody dominating the "European Scene" in the 80s and 90s, when Lewis, Tyson, Holyfield etc were all in America. Deontay Wilder will go down in History as the "Most Pointless Longest Reigning World Champion". To hold the WBC belt for 5 years and not even be top 5 of your own Era, is a pretty incredible accomplishment.
The excuses emerging from his fans that, seemingly no matter what happens, if he loses it's down to his car crash and that he's some form of mental cripple forever because of it. I don't see AJ making these excuses, so why are his fans? If he wasn't ready to fight, he wouldn't and shouldn't be fighting.
Ortiz was top 5 ranked when Wilder beat him and Jennings was 6th ranked when Ortiz beat him. I do not see any problem with that. Jennings deserves credit for fighting Ortiz when many contenders and champions ducked him rotten. Wilder will go down as the No.1 American HW this century thus far (probably for a while yet) and one of four or five HoF HW's in the era spanning 2015-2026.
I may be incorrect about lineal. It seems to be a bit of an enigma but often fans declare the Ring champ as the lineal champion Vitali and Sanders (based off his ko win against Wladimir) were #1 and #2. He became the ring champ defended once against Williams and retired before later returning. The ring HW champion that everyone seems to have followed for however many years Vitali was the Ring HW champion which is what Usyk is now I figured you would be too young to know this I knew from your posting that you were likely too young to have known
I don't need to do any mental gymnastics You are struggling to understand basics I haven't said Whyte was better than Wilder H2H or that he would have beaten him I have pointed that whilst you go on about 10 defences that I feel overall Whyte was facing overall better competition as a fighter without a belt Amusingly you put 42 year old Chisora a as top 3 win for Wilder yet don't mention Whyte had already beaten Chisora
Regardless of how old you are, you were wrong about Vitali being lineal. Just take the L rather than further making a fool of yourself.
Whyte did not face better competition than Wilder. Fury x3 + Ortiz x2 + Stiverne 1 clears what Whyte was doing. And Wilder had more 15-30 level quantity too. Chisora is one of Wilder's best wins (top 4) and two of Whyte's best wins (probably his 2nd and 3rd). Yes Chisora was older when Wilder beat him, but Wilder was also in his 40's, in worse form, and considered more shot. Wilder was also the B-side vs Chisora, to Whyte's A-side. So in context, Wilder's Chisora win was superior. Had Whyte been the B-side he may well have gone 0-2 vs Chisora. Wilder was a major player in the era, Whyte was not, and no amount of fanboy spin is going to change that.
Do point out the similarities other than they have both made double figure defences Of course he has signature wins He and Sanders were #1 & #2. He beat him to be The Ring HW champion Wilder was never Ring champion Vitali beat WBC champion Peters in his first fight in nearly 4 years Best Hide who was reigning WBO HW champion Baring in mind Sanders didn't lose his title in the ring, that is 3 champions he beat, which is 2/3s more than Wilder Williams was coming off a big upset win over Tyson when Vitali defended against him Gomez and Adamek were both former CW champions Briggs a former lineal champion Charr became a HW regular champ Fighters like Solis, Hoffman, Bean, Johnson etc were all rated HWs Vitali even beat Puritty who took the 0 of Wladimir The only real similarities I see is that Vitali and Wilder both fought Arreola and Chisora only Vitali fought them over 6 years and 14 years!!! Before and fought both when they were fresher
I may be Never too proud to admit if I am wrong, Im not sure why that would be a loss unless you are emotionally invested in the fighters and this debate? I am not sure if it is 100% wrong though as many site the Ring mag champion as lineal. They certainly appear to and have been in publication for over 100 years I guess it is if you follow the Ring HW title lineage?
How much more of a disappointment will AJ's career be after a fat old Tyson Fury splatters him twice?
Fair enough I think it is up for debate as you are claiming losses Joshua, Chisora x2, Fury, Itauma, Browne, Povetkin x2, Rivas, Parker I would think Whyte was fighting at a slightly higher level overall, but happy to disagree. I don't try to pass my opinion as a fact, which you seem to be desperately trying to do here
