Best thing about boxing here in the states is it is almost never televised anymore.

You are right though in the sense that this isn't a very good time for boxing right now

 

Interesting fighters will emerge, but my interest in the sport is declining a bit this past year. There were so many unification fights and big fights for undisputed in 2022-2025 and now the next generation need to start chasing legacy and make these big fights.

Seamus I can only concur with your opinion.

I remember when my boxing interest was automatic, a newly signed bout to look forward to seemed constant, now the mega bout being spoken of is between two fading and aging heavyweights by the names of AJ and Fury.

I am at the stage of not being excited by boxing itself, now just get my interest piqued by the occasional bout, i long to feel the passion i once did for the noble art, but alas it is gone.

 

Surely Usyk vacating the belts makes the heavyweight division more exciting?

There's going to be some good fights coming up for sure with Dubois/Kabayel/Gassiev vs the likes of Wardley, Itauma, Hrgovic, Fury, Ajagba

Well having witnessed the soccer world cup, I was VERY relieved that I switched to purely following boxing a long time ago.

Other sports have it bad, too. NBA seems like they want to sell you some narratives way worse than boxing does with their skewed commentary. Soccer world cup the same, obviously bad refereeing in favor of certain teams in spite of video corrections...

And let's be honest, even if it is not the highest level boxing has to offer - it is still way more exciting and interesting than basketballers fishing for fouls or grown ass soccer player millionaires rolling around on the floor or appealing to the referee like 5 year olds...

I have hope for the hw division. Super welter looks nice. I like to watch up and comers when they are matched in tough fights like golden boy likes to do. They don't need to be the best in the world. The beauty often lies in the athletes passion and how they apply themselves compared to other sports.

I think a good trick is to disregard what the media tries to sell you. Have your own opinion on which fight is worth a lot and what is bs. Don't buy joshua fury. Don't buy fury wach or joshua prenga. Those are all fights you can watch on youtube just as well.

Look out for inoue fights, for what the good mexican and japanese fighters do. Look for those fighters that have a history of delivering instead of talking.

If you trust in media hype it is a nice feeling but you are bound to be disappointed. Go for the real value. Hype yourself for those fights. 50-50 matchups between good, not great fighters.
