This year on paper all we've had is Shakur vs Teo. Teo fizzled put pretty fast after his win over Loma. He lost his title straight away. Recaptured a belt 3-4 years ago against a Brit but that Was his last dance. Got a bogus decision in 2023 when he came out dancing like a clown. This bout aside which was a snooze fest who have we had? Where are all the big match ups? We need Tank and Loma back in the sport and these guys are also past it. Tank lost to Roach. Loma hasn't fought for over 2 years. Bud left. Charles don't fight. Canelo is shot and was always overrated. Pacquaio is old. We had Tszyu vs Spence and both guys are finished at the top level. Tszyus time at the top didnt eveb last a year. There's a lack of super stars in the game ATM. Bakhram lost after his career defining win vs Kelly. Charlo bros are in hiding. Furt, Usyk, Joshua, Wilder top run is over was ages ago for two of themNo one could tell you outside of the sport who the big guns are. Thurman, Plant, Fulton all finished. So much talent yet fizzled out. Prograis Liam Wilson more guys who are done. Kambosos was another one hit wonder. Guys can't defend their belts. Haney got gifted a decision vs Loma and got ***** slipped by Ryan. Plus he's a massive weight bully. Oscar Valdez didn't deliver. Navarette popped for drugs. Berchalt overrated.
As long as boxing is around there will always be opportunities for superfights. But they are by nature few and far between. Because it takes special fighters to make a superfight. And they aren’t special fighters because there’s a bunch of them around. Right now Bam vs Inoue is a superfight. 2 generational talents close enough in weight to make a real fight. In the near future there may be others springing up as young fighters establish their legacies as elite level fighters. The only thing keeping truly talented fighters out of future superfights is their lack of ambition.

We had Inoue-Nakatani, two fighters in the top 10 p4p, a highly anticipated match that didn't disappoint, so much so that many would like to see a rematch. Ennis-Zayas didn't disappoint either, a fight between two undefeated fighters that provided some thrills. The match between Zurdo Ramirez and Benavidez is also highly anticipated and exciting, on May 2nd, like Inoue-Nakatani, a great Saturday for boxing. Romero-Lopez is on the 22nd August, and Garcia-Benn is in September, these are two interesting fights. Then we wait to see who the next opponents will be for Inoue, Iglesias, and Rodriguez, and when the rematch between Wardley and Dubois will be announced (their matchup was definitely not a Thrilla in Manila, but it's a war that was enjoyed and not boring, just like Wilder-Chisora). 'De gustibus non disputandum est' certainly but for me so far 2026 has been good and there have been some important fights.
Not a superfight, but Vergil v Boots is pretty big. Inoue to 126 is pretty big. That's about it though. Maybe winner of Vergil Boots v Fundora. Cant think of anything else rn

You are absolutely incorrect. Fighters do whats best for their earnings. They see Floyds zero, see his brand ("I'm undefeated"), and see his earnings...so they do their best Floyd impression. Fighters, not fans, care about the "0." Dozens of boxers in past few years are/were beloved even with losses. Canelo, Anthony Joshua, Carl Froch, Cotto, GGG, Mosley, Kovalev, Loma, Kell Brook, Amir Khan, Ricky Hatton, DLH, Wlad, Jermell Charlo, JMM, etc. The reason those guys are/were BELOVED was because they tested themselves and usually won. Floyd himself lost JLC1 and ran it back and made it ugly for the win. That first fight was before he was a big name so few people saw the fight, but it was a loss or, at best, a draw. Floyd got the "A side treatment" and was given the win. It was a bad decision by any reasonable observer. The fighters fans DONT like much are these 30 year old prospects who avoid real challenges: Boots Ennis Tank Davis Deontay Wilder Jamie Munguia Def more snowflakes, but the above fighters point blank dont want no smoke. They dance and prance like theyre hot stuff, but when kitchen gets hot they get out. Ennis has 1 decent win and hes alrdy like 33 years old and 50 fights in. Tank has always been a joke but his LSC win was good. Deontay destroyed all journeymen and even paid Malik to take a dive. Munguia just a joke.
That's kinda the point. Boots/Ortiz is a big fight............................for me and you and us who are real lovers of the sport. It's not a superfight though. There aren't any. Even fights which would be considered big aren't super fights. Jones/Toney was a superfight De La Hoya/Trinidad was a superfight. Floyd/Gatti was a superfight (even though we knew what would happen) These fights aren't generating..................energy............
Ive been following boxing avidly for 45 years, and have conscious memory of the sport going back probably another decade, and over that time complaints about its decline, demise, lack of fights being made seem to never end.
the person who started the thread called canelo overrated? look at the hate tzsyu got after getting beat that first time - joshua got and still gets hate for losing to ruiz - spence when he lost to crawford everyone said he was always overrated and started threads breaking down his resume and why he was a bum the fighters you named were all in the past no current fighter gets the same pass for losing
